I know there are some of you who are willing to do what it takes to win but you want to make sure you do so with character and integrity. Thereâs a line you donât want to cross. You are fine going up to that line and doing whatever you can that is within bounds but you donât want to cross that line and I am totally with you on that.
I am going to walk you through this faux outrage story regarding Ben Carson and Ted Cruz. Iâm going to walk you through a timeline but before I do, I need to make sure you know what life is like at an Iowa Caucus. Iâm on Team Cruz. I was one of the precinct captains in one of the larger precincts in Central Iowa where I live in a Des Moines suburb. I received no e-mail. I understand an e-mail went out but I didnât receive one from the Cruz campaign encouraging me to address the rumors that Carson was dropping out.
When you have turnout where 60,000 people you donât have room for show up across Iowa to vote, itâs really hectic. At my caucus site, I counted over 500 people were there yet only 291 of them were registered to vote. We had onlookers. We had observers. We had media. I just had somebody from another part of the state tell me that their precinct turnout was up 60 percent from 2012. Our infrastructure was overloaded.
Even if this was planted by the Cruz campaign (and it wasnât), and even if it was something they plotted to do to take down Ben Carson (and we are going to show you that it wasnât), it could not have been successful because of the hectic nature of what went on all across the state of Iowa with this surge of voters.
I talked to a business owner in Des Moines who knows Rick Santorum and spoke with him at his precinct site. He said he got an alert on his phone that said Carson may be dropping out. He said he took it to Rick Santorum and asked him if he thought this was something he should mention as a Cruz guy. You know what Rick Santorum told him? He said Ben Carsonâs voters should absolutely know about that because they should want their votes to count.
In my precinct, I did not have Internet access in the gym I was in.

The Cruz Control Club demands you ignore!
Really? What about the precinct that Candy Carson was at? How do you think he found out?
It’s interesting how aggrieved Trump is over this whole thing. Yes, Cruz’ campaign responded aggressively to the CNN Carson leaving the campaign trail story. It was a tough, opportunistic move. But wasn’t it Trump who recently said we, the country, had to be tougher? Didn’t Trump say, we “can’t afford to be so nice, people”? I would have thought Trumpsters would commend Cruz for a cunning move like this.
Once again we watch as the Treason Media whips up a fraudulent issue of NO importance. How long will the Right allow it to lead it by the nose to defeat?
Cruz is not my first choice but this whole thing is an example of TRUSTING the media and acting on its misinformation. He should have vetted ANY information from CNN much more thoroughly. AND he should not have so gleefully re-tweeted it. But he is not the lying snake many here claim.
My God, those with their panties in a twist need to examine some Chicago elections. This stuff is kindergarten.
After Trump rose dramatically the Treason Media had to find a way to blunt his rise. As Cruz admitted, had Donald won Iowa he would have been unstoppable. So, how do you hurt him? How about inflating a bunch of other polls showing him to be huge winner when the reality was that it was going to be razor close in a state which Cruz was expected initially to win handily.
Thus, a “defeat” can be represented as people moving away from Trump. Did you believe those polls?
The reality is Trump comes out of Iowa with ONE less delegate than Cruz, a result representing a tremendous improvement from the starting position.
Cruz “took down” nothing except his reputation for having the Evangelical vote in his pocket. A small margin of victory takes nothing down and says nothing about a national effort. Another day or two and he could have been third and Rubio first.
Thanks for your personal story.
Trumpbots are going to all believe whatever they want about Ted. Anything to avoid talking about the real issues.
They’re just biting at the bit to try and accuse Ted of cheating on his wife, fathering somebody’s baby, robbing a bank, etc.
Whatever fits their narrative...
Breaking? Really? Article dated Nov. 15th 2015.
I’m on Team Cruz, and I wouldn’t lie to you. Would I?
Yes, all those elderly people were to check their smart phones - the big dummies! Cruz people are low.
Most of the precincts did not even know about the story until the day after the election. Not a single person has said that they changed their vote. Cruz’s campaign did nothing wrong in passing on the CNN story. Perhaps Carson should man up and take responsibility for the poorly worded press release his campaign gave CNN.
Nobody cheated here.
Exactly the lack of logic around here just because their guy lost in Iowa is astounding..
It has gotten so bad, Cruz is having to bring Steve Deace, The head
Snake Handler, out to defend Cruz.
It’s that bad.
Except that you attack the messenger and don’t even tell me what’s wrong with what Steve Deace actually states in the article..typical!
“Cruzâs campaign did nothing wrong in passing on the CNN story”
CNN said Carson was taking a break before NH.
Team Cruz said Carson was dropping out of the race - and did that on caucus night.
You don’ see a problem?? They didn’t “pass on” the CNN story, they made up a lie. Which is why Cruz apologized and actually said about the lie “this was our mistake”.
Steve Deace almost nailed it.
The entire TIMELINE is on display at the source: http://stevedeace.com/news/the-fake-ben-carson-controversy-should-end-here-and-now/#
But, Deace’s timeline contains one mistake. Although he posted the contents of that first Cruz campaign email at 6:56 PM, he neglected to include its Subject: “Carson Likely to Drop Out”. This makes Deace’s comment wrong: “Did it say Ben Carson was dropping out? No. That’s not what it said.”
Sorry, Steve but, the answer is actually YES, that IS what it said.
I’ve tried to contact Deace. Hopefully, he’ll change it.
See post below yours...
Obviously Deace has never been a participant of FR..........LOL!
The fact that Dease is having to come out and defend Cruz
shows how serious this scandal has grown.
