EXCLUSIVE–Voicemails: ‘Ben Carson Suspending Campaigning’; Cruz: ‘Accurate Report’
Breitbart ^ | February 4,2016 | ALEX SWOYER

Posted on 02/04/2016 12:48:03 PM PST by Hojczyk

New audio obtained exclusively by Breitbart News indicates that as the Iowa caucuses began on Monday night, the campaign called precinct captains informing them that Dr. Ben Carson was suspending campaigning, and instructing them to tell voters they should “not waste a vote on Ben Carson and vote for Ted Cruz.”

The calls were placed after the Carson campaign had already clarified that Carson was not suspending his campaign.

Nancy Bliesman, a precinct captain for Cruz in Crawford County, Iowa, told Breitbart News that she received two voice mails–one at 7:07 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST), and one at 7:29 p.m.–on the night of the Iowa caucuses, which began at 7:00 p.m.

The first call came from a woman with a phone number out of Galveston, Texas at 7:07 p.m. (transcript follows audio):

[inaudible]…from the Ted Cruz campaign, calling to get to a precinct captain, and it has just been announced that Ben Carson is taking a leave of absence from the campaign trail, so it is very important that you tell any Ben Carson voters that for tonight, uh, that they not waste a vote on Ben Carson, and vote for Ted Cruz. He is taking a leave of absence from his campaign. All right? Thank you. Bye.

The second voicemail was left at 7:29 p.m. from an Iowa phone number that Breitbart News traced back to a Cruz campaign volunteer hotline.

Hello, this is the Cruz campaign with breaking news: Dr. Ben Carson will be [garbled] suspending campaigning following tonights caucuses. Please inform any Carson caucus goers of this news and urge them to caucus for Ted instead. Thank you. Good night.

Since Trump is lying about Cruz’s ineligibility, calling him a maniac, compared Carson to pedophiles, keeps calling Cruz ‘nasty’, says no one likes him, and is calling him a criminal, this switch would ratchet Trump’s attacks down quite a bit.

Wrong... I read the article and proves NOTHING. The folks on the ground are expected to convince others to vote for their candidates. That’s how the caucuses works. I’m ticked that Carson never properly defended himself against Trump’s unwarranted attacks and is allowing Trump and his goon squad to attack another candidate. I’d be even more ticked if the people on the ground failed to convince the voters that Carson wasn’t going to make it much farther because his campaign was hemorrhaging cash and people. I see the real motivation behind the phony “outrage” is to tear down a conservative....since nobody is going after Rubio it shows that is the only reason behind this non issue.

“You Trump people...”

That is where you went off the road and careened down the hill...

Well, my friend who has met and campaigned with Dr Carson. She's genuinely outraged.

I guess that means you're faking it.

And the article proves that the precinct captains were told to LIE about Dr Ben leaving the race. Just in case you don't know, that means it came from the top.

I find that kind of off putting

But then, you pretending you're a Carson supporter kind of does the same thing......

I wanted Carson and Cruz ticket...guess your friend missed the mass exodus of Carson’s campaign staff and losing donors since November. I was for Carson as soon as he announced, so don’t even bother with that crap. Very disappointed in him an those who are using the occasion to tear down another candidate with baseless attacks.

The graph depicts an assumed outcome.
The outcome is most definitely not assumed but tallied and recorded votes.

The assumed outcome is your spin against data depicted in the graph. The graph shows Carson gaining on election day after going down in the poll right before. If you want to convince people Carson would have gone from 9% to 30% then you will need to show how that is plausible. Rubio gained the most, was already gaining the most in the polls and stood out at the last debate that Donald Ducked.

You can assume damages all you like. You have to assume damages because the graph shows otherwise. Which is exactly why I posted it, for the full information plotted on it.

I hope there is someone near you who can explain how the graph shows Trump lost against expectations from the polls, that showed him leading all the way until he blew it at the end. Which you strangely tried to deny. If you can make that kind of blatant error and use an apology as showing damages then you wasted enough of my time. Good night.

No reason to watch the cable news tonight...this is all that will be on. And as usual only with the same 6 “experts” and “pundits” giving their BS views.

On Fox it’s all Rove, Kraut, Hume, Juan, et al.

YAWN.

Reminds me of the phantom FL panhandle voters in 2000 that “turned around and went home” after CBS said Gore won.

I forgot I was going to post the link to you for the graph:
Donald Trump says he came in first in Iowa. He didn’t, by any measure.
Plenty about the graph there for you to read about. Also makes a joke of your spin about not expecting Trump to win. Especially since he himself says he won. LoL!

I understand your point.

The only relevant point in the graph is the one that depicts reality. The final point. I’m assuming it’s after the votes were counted.

Everything else is hypothetical.

Saying ‘it’s not as bad as I thought it would be, so it didn’t happen’ is the kind of rational teenagers use.

That’s all. Good luck.

You could have saved my time by posting polls are meaningless.

Trump used to like them.

I say we should let the candidates fight it out and not be so eager to trash either one of our leading candidates. Digging up and publishing dirt and rumors on either is not doing our side any good and is potentially destructive in the long run.

And trashing our fellow FReepers is something that should never be done. This is going to be a long fight and we do not want to lose too many of our friends.

Meanwhile, let the rebellion gain strength. We're all in it together to save our nation. Please save your ammunition and your venom for the true enemy on the left.

“You could have saved my time by posting polls are meaningless.”

They certainly are as proof of damages in an election outcome.

Oh, I see - do not accept that your candidate, or his staff, did something unethical ...

Because that would demonstrate humility and honesty ...

No. Rather, heap derision upon his opponent’s supporters. It is becoming increasingly clear, with each passing day, just how brazenly dishonest are the Cruz supporters.

None of what you stated matters b/c none of it admits to the relevant point of the discussion - Cruz, his staffers and precinct captains conspired to deprive a rival of votes - not by merit of argument, but through deceit. Your attempt at subterfuge does not alter that fact.

Again, the intellectual dishonesty exhibited by the Cruz camp is breathtaking. If this same device were used by Trump or his campaign staff, you would be demanding his head on a platter, and you damn well know it.

I am growing tired of the rampant hypocrisy of you so-called “Christians” and your political false messiah.

It’s worse than TDS ... The Cruz club here on FR are just plain dishonest and have not the personal integrity to admit that their guy did something highly questionable at best. Ted Cruz is proving himself to be just another owned and branded politician - which in of itself would be no story, except for the fact that he constantly pushes his smarmy and condescending “I’m a Christian, Hurumph” brand ...

Trump has a brand to - and he is true to it ...

Ted Cruz, OTOH, is just another phony televangelist.

This article changes absolutely nothing about what we already know.

Gotta disagree. It shows that Rove was correct about an "operation" by the Cruz campaign's "ground game" was set into motion, including using the phone banks to get the "urgent news" with instructions out to all the Caucuses. Even call backs if they didn't answer the phone. Wow, like they were doing the country a great favor because someone might actually vote for Carson locked up in a Caucus without first knowing the "truth". This is really bad stuff. NH will be done and past while this still plays on repeat.

Someone asked on a thread the other night whether "Trump has more?" Someone sure had more, here it is Thursday and this is gaining momentum instead of waning. Talk about "message control", this has been on broadcast for three days now. Someone in this thread asked if there were vote switchers confirmed or not. I feel it coming now for sure. Probably at least a dozen "15 min. of fame" folk all confused and such. "But they told me..."
