In one way, this all has me worried. In 1968, on the Democratic side, the tensions and competition were high. In the audience, there are a lot of nuts. Was true, then, particulary due to a lot of media attention.
Just like today.
Out in that audience are thuse whose head is screaming like a pig being stuck, but it is inside, outside they just sort of stare. They stand in the crowds, but are strangers yet seeking with interest the pandemonium. Because inside, is the same. But they are just observing from the outside. Drifters.
All the media is awash. The candidates in a frenzy here and there. To wun, they get ever closer to the teaming masses. Press closer to the audience. They get before the crowd. The stranger to oneself is there, observing, left out. The Ambassador Hotel, California, Bobby Kennedy just won California, he come out. Pressing closer.
A Palestinian is there in the crowd. All the awash is there. Folks press one another. I am watching it late on TV. Then pop, pop, pop. Folks start yelling. Because Bobby Kennedy supported Israel. The Palestinian.
No predictions. Tarot cards. The World of Tomorrow.
That guy is so pathetic, I don't think he could win if he were running unopposed.
It makes you wonder, "This guy was actually a state governor?"
If this guy's last name wasn't "Bush," he'd be a middle management bureaucrat somewhere.
“Bush comes in second with 14 percent”
The polls bunk no one likes ol cockeyed junior.
They’re going to post turtle this ass clown just like they did
Obama. Just another liberal pretending to be a republican.
Does Trump still think that? The last couple days, he's been somewhat lamenting the fact that he did not do more in that regards, in Iowa.
Granted, he or his campaign people may have thought it wasn't worth it, and by the time it became evident it could be, it was too late.
OTOH, can Cruz maintain the intensity of his ground game in Iowa, through Super Tuesday? It seems unlikely, even if he is leaving Iowa with a fistful of $$. Those $$ don't compare remotely with what Trump could bring to bear, if he wished.
Well, the Trumpsters have issues some pretty ridiculous statements, too. I think everyone needs to step back and remember who we are here on FR.
WE’RE supposed to be the rational ones. Calling each other names makes us no better than the DUmmies...except that Jim insists that we don’t use the filthy language they do.
Ted Cruz is a constant conservative Christian candidate. His positions are the same today as they were when we elected him to the Senate. Some of the other candidates can’t say that.
I am not trying to persuade anyone, but Ann Coulter and Sarah...who I have long respected...have said some pretty nasty things about him.
However...it IS what it is. Politics..and politics is just down and dirty work!
Ted Cruz is a constant conservative Christian candidate.
I have 4 children who are Christian Conservative, but if they acted like Cruz, I would be very disappointed. He mocks Christianity with his living. He is morally corrupt. And that is all I will say.
This doesnt pass the smell test IMO.
Yes.
I was predicting a Cruz win in Iowa for a couple of weeks. Of course, I could be wrong, but I think it's a one-off.
I know his passionate supporters love him (and I hate the way they respond to criticism of him), but he comes across as a wierdo and the Christian schtick that was so important in Iowa blocks many states from consideration in November.
I just don't think he can win a single state that Romney lost, and that (therefore) nominating him would be a serious mistake.
If Trump really has a glass jaw, we'd better find out right now. I hope that's not true, but the evidence of the last few days is not reassuring.
Yes, there are a lot of 1968 echoes this season. On the other side:
HRC=LBJ
Sanders=McCarthy
Warren=RFK
Biden=HHH
But for stimulation of the reptilian brains out there? Nobody can beat Trump.
38 - 14 or 31 - 9 which do you like better?
New Hampshire, Liberal La La land of the North.
NO!!!!!!!!!
No more Bushes
Remember this?
http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/23/politics/donald-trump-new-hampshire-ballot-eligibility/
Fergus Cullen (former state party chairman) tried to have him removed from the ballot
He has hosted Jeb and just endorsed Kasich!
Tried to have Trump removed from the ballot.
Jim, can busloads of “New Republican voters” show up and register to vote on the primary day and vote like the Rubes did at Iowa?
Thanks
Sorta.
Each town has a Supervisor of the Checklist (elected), who is in charge of registration. You CAN register to vote on February 9, BUT, depending on location, you have to prove residency more or less stringently.
In my town of 6000 people and about 2000 voters, if the Supervisor of the Checklist doesn't know you personally, the residency proof represents a high hurdle. A busload of "voters" could not vote in my town.
In Manchester or Portsmouth, I think it would be easier.
Our biggest problem is a recent Supreme Court decision allowing college students to vote without proving they are not also registered elsewhere. But, next Tuesday, since they are all feeling the Bern, this should help give Hillary the spanking she so richly deserves.
