That lugging 130lb artillery rounds by hand, or carrying/wearing huge loads while being required to move rapidly with crew served weapons while bullets are flying is a myth?” Spot on! I think alot of the proponents of this madness have never been 11b or 11c MOS where you need all the components of your crew served weapons to be in a certain place at a certain time and ALL components with its crew. What happens when you have humped 12 or more miles and go to set up your mortar and you find out Susie couldn’t make it because she could not carry the Baseplate [or Barrel,Sight,Ammo or any other component of that weapon] or maybe she did make it but now was to tired to dig out a firing pit because she was allowed to pass physical tests that were modified for her gender. That’s when T.S.H.T.F. That’s when your platoon has not only endangered itself but all the other Rifle platoons that are depending on it’s Wpns. Platoon for fire support. In other words having women in positions they should not be in is the weak link in the chain and will cause good men to lose their lives down the road.
She offered the example of Inchon, but we had far more troops employed in either Afghanistan or Iraq than we did in Inchon.
The idea that "we just don't do that anymore" is just bizarre. She's pretty clearly a vet, probably a LCol. in the Air Force. I just can't believe someone like that would dismiss the importance and continuing relevance of ground combat troops.
