Rubio-mania is upon us
The Week ^ | February 2, 2016 | Michael Brendan Dougherty

The takeaways from Monday night's Iowa caucuses are clear for Republicans: Ted Cruz was powered to victory by social conservatives and his superior ground game. Donald Trump's supporters — as was widely suspected — were less attached to the political process than their preferred political performer, and he subsequently underperformed his polls. Trump is far from finished, but Iowa was an ominous start for the frontrunner. And finally, the much anticipated Marco Rubio moment is here.

The plan is Trump, Cruz and Carson split the conservative vote, Rubio slides in to office.

Rubio a two faced POS.

So conservative that they never get rid of Graham.

Flavor of the month. *shrug* I would say it will pass but I’ve said from the beginning that the GOPe will find a way to get it’s puppet nominated. I thought that would be Bush. It now appears that is Rubio.

I wouldn’t worry much about it except that the serious threats to him are only Trump and Cruz who are both unelectable disasters.

We, and our Republic, are in DEEP trouble.

Good advice, but I’d be surprised if it was taken here on FR.

This analysis is nonsense.

IA has traditionally picked the most evangelical candidate, it did so again... Rubio tried his best to turn himself into Jesus in the last weeks.... so he got a good chunk.

Trump was ALWAYS a long shot in IA, had he won, the race was over... because the Caucus format is designed to support the traditional/establishment type of candidates over the outsiders.

NH is the first test IMHO of Trump’s ability to get votes. The traditional private voting booth will show if Trump’s backers are engaged or not. Rubio’s strong showing is disturbing, it shows teh GOPe voter doesn’t give a damn about illegal immigration.

There is no question, Rubio is the media favorite. They seem to march in lockstep. Who gives the marching orders?

Clearly cooperation between GOPe and Liberal media to finish Cruz off. Trump irrelevant right now to them unless he can help them destroy Cruz, which he will try to help them with. I will never vote for Rubio, another liberal Repub for amnesty, open borders, all the while telling us he isn’t for them. Snake oil.

If Rubes gets the nomination the Dems/MSM will be playing the clip of him sipping from his water bottle over and over.

Everyone forgets that moment for some reason.

Trump may get the message that his political meanderings of late hurt him. Voters need reminders of why a candidate should be elected - and I haven’t been hearing anything about the wall, etc.

The narrative for Rubio is simply the GOPe trying to reestablish its primacy.

He’s even worse than Romney.

I held my nose for Romney, I will NOT for Rubio.

There is no support for Rubio around the internet today. There is Cruz, Trump and a tiny amount of Carson support but no Rubio....

Interesting. You may be spot on because I just heard a caller to the Herman Caine show this morning say their relatives in Iowa told her Democrats from Chicago are moving to Iowa and changing the electorate there. How about that?

And we still believe the election process is not rigged? What we are seeing is kabuki theatre, meant to delude us into believing there is an honest process. In the end the oligarchs will select whom they want at the helm. But they will give US so much confusion that we will just be ‘so sure the process has worked itself out in votes.’

I agree. But don’t give me credit for the moniker, as I saw it here at FR some weeks ago. Can’t remember who posted it.

He’s fearless intellectually, but his personality and presentation is very different from Trump’s. I am voting for him and have been very outspokenly behind him on this site, but his personality is not everybody’s cup of tea, and that could be a factor.
