Adele Tells Trump He Can't Use Her Songs on Campaign Trail
NBC Dallas ^ | Francesca Bacardi

Trump doesn't have legal permission to use "Rolling in the Deep" and "Skyfall" at rallies, artist says.

Donald Trump "could've had it all," but now he'll have nothing, as Adele has denied him permission to use any of her music on the campaign trail.

The real estate magnate has used "Rolling in the Deep" and "Skyfall" at various events to rev up the crowd. That will soon come to an end, a rep for the famous singer told E! News

"Adele has not given permission for her music to be used for any political campaigning," the rep said.

An Adele fan, Trump attended her Radio City Music Hall concert at the end of 2015.

rump isn't the first politician to appropriate the British singer's music for campaign use. Mike Huckabee also shared a cover of Adele's "Hello" on Twitter and YouTube, but the audio since has been muted as a result of a claim from the copyright holder. This also isn't this first time a musician has banned his or her music from political events. According to court documents obtained by E! News, Steven Tyler never granted Trump permission to feature Aerosmith's singles at rallies and other gatherings. As a result, he requested the presidential hopeful to stop playing the songs.

"Trump for President does not have our client's permission to use 'Dream On' or any of our client's other music in connection with the campaign because it gives the false impression that [Tyler] is connected with or endorses Mr. Trump's presidential bid," the cease and desist letter stated.

Days after legal papers were sent to the GOP frontrunner, the businessman spoke out on Twitter. "Even though I have the legal right to use Steven Tyler's song, he asked me not to," he shared online. "Have better one to take its place!"

Neil Young also voiced his concern after Trump used the song "Rockin' in the Free World" during his presidential candidacy announcement.

"Donald Trump was not authorized to use 'Rockin' in the Free World' in his presidential candidacy announcement. Neil Young, a Canadian citizen, is a supporter of Bernie Sanders for President of the United States of America," the 69-year-old musician's rep told E! News in a statement.

A spokesperson for Trump later clarified that the Republican hopeful paid for and obtained the legal right to use the song but wouldn't be using it again

Or boycott them because they don't like the person that is using the song.

Democrats buy music too. :)

He can use any song he wants. You just gotta pay to play. He can afford it.

I’m ok with that. As a performer it’s best to be neutral and not tick off anyone.

LOL - for the longest time I thought they sang “Leslie”. My first exposure to a threesome - a guy, his girlfriend and Leslie.

You would think that maybe these musicians wouldn't mind their songs getting a little airplay? Like maybe someone just may buy their music?

It's not that. Adele doesn't want to alienate a large segment of her potential fan base by making it appear as though she is endorsing a U.S. presidential candidate. I'd do the same thing.

And, FWIW, Adele needs no help getting airplay.

You may be right.

Some good songs for the Trump campaign by Ted Nugent.

1) Great White Buffalo (dedicated to Hillary)

2) Kiss My Ass ((dedicated to the RNC)

3) Wang Dang Sweet Poontang (NOT GOING THERE )

4)Stranglehold (D.C. versus the people)

Just a few brain droppings to consider !!

Yep. There is no upside to being perceived as being involve in the politics of another county.

I used to have to do fund raising for a charity. I had no public political opinions during that time as far as anyone knew.

And all donors were interesting people with a unique sense of style.

Neil Young - love his music - is such a sad joke.

Lives the high life in private jets and Los Angeles mansion while making occasional appearances as a “Canadian” to shut down Oil Sands operations.

I used to spend thousands of dollars on tickets when CSNY came to town... Now I regret every cent.

Tired, bitter, hypocrite fools.

If Trump has received (or purchased) the right to use her songs from the production company (which would be quit easy for him or his companies to do), nothing she say actually matters legal wise.

That's what I thought. You can't publicly market your music and then censor who uses it. Is Adele going to say that Trump cannot listen to it personally?

She needs to just shut up and enjoy spending the royalties.
