Trump: Unlike Cruz, ‘I Have a Heart,’ I’ll Enact Universal Health Coverage

In an interview this morning on This Week, Donald Trump cited his desire to "help people" as the reason he favors government-funded universal health coverage. Unlike Ted Cruz, Trump said, "I have a heart."

"If somebody has no money and they're lying in the middle of the street and they're dying, I'm going to take care of that person," Trump said.

Actually, he is suggesting that Cruz would let people die in the street if they cannot pay. You are putting a paragraph in Trump’s mouth that he didn’t say.

A bit of double speak.
Says he doesn’t agree with single payer, except for the poor.We have county hospitals in Texas for the poor, not at the Federal level.
It is possible that they receive Federal funds, but I do not know.
Do other states have county hospitals?

“The scenario he envisions (emergency treatment) is already the law of the land and was the law before Obamacare.”

Before Jindal, Louisiana had universal health care. If a family could not afford to pay for their health care, they would go to a “charity” hospital located in each large city. They were free, but I think before they were closed down, they had a scale based on income. Jindal got rid of them.

The weird thing is, Trump is no different than the GOPe/RNC Media types, like Michael Medved, who generally despise Trump.

The GOPe has always had this same idea. National Health is a done deal, it is inevitable and in fact here. And people want it. So we will do it better.

Sure, Trump may make single-payer efficient while he’s in office, but what happens once he leaves? Aye, there’s the rub.

No. that’s not what he said. Trump framed it as an attack on Ted Cruz, who has fought against Obamacarw.

I have honestly never seen a more challenged group than those who still think Trump is pushing single payer.

It’s embarrassing.

Folks, why would Trump be pushing to lower state line restrictions on insurance companies competing nationwide, if there weren’t going to be a private sector?

That is such a simple concept, and yet it’s obvious some folks don’t have the mental faculties to grasp it.

This is why Trump rarely talks policy. He does best when he is a blank slate.

Other than the Defense/Immigration, his policies are Liberal Compassionate “Conservatism.”

Donald, I know you are new at this. But your not supposed to swing left until AFTER you win the nomination.

And here is why NRO and the rest of the Conservative Media establishment have zero effect on Trump numbers

They take THIS statement and turn into something it obviously does not mean. This sort of hysteric naked lying is not going to work with people. It merely destroies the credibility of the source (NRO) while leaving the target (Trump) untouched

"If somebody has no money and they're lying in the middle of the street and they're dying, I'm going to take care of that person," Trump said.

Taking care of someone doesn’t mean socialized medicine. You are coming to the wrong conclusion.

No, just giving out facts. Some are admittedly tough to take. It’s tough to admit for a voter he/she is voting for a serial adulterer or strip club owner. These are FACTS. He is a man of low character, as demonstrated by the things he does. Men of low character lie, so don’t be surprised by what Trump does after what he’s said.

Yep.... he has swung left before a single vote was cast. The good news is nobody should be surprised if they elect a lefty rino.

Which again raises the question why is he claiming he would have to enact something?

Obama finally broke the dam and opened the floodgates for made-for-TV personalities who can spout meaningless slogans in support of a paper-thin media visage.

Now it will be a requirement for higher office.
