Grow Up! How can anyone be for this spoiled brat?
The American Spectator ^ | January 30, 2016 | Thomas Sowell

Posted on 01/30/2016 12:54:47 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Of all the many things said about Donald Trump, what was said by Roger Ailes, head of the Fox News Channel, said it all in just two words: "Grow up!"

It is amazing how many people have been oblivious to this middle-aged man's spoiled brat behavior, his childish boastfulness about things he says he is going to do, and his petulant response to every criticism with ad hominem replies.

He has boasted that his followers would stick by him even if he committed murder. But is that something to boast about? Is it not an insult to his followers, if it is true? Moreover, his cockiness is misplaced, because he still does not have a majority among Republican voters, while you need a majority of all the voters to win any state in the general election.

Trump has a showman's talent for telling people what they want to hear. But you can listen in vain for a coherent argument from him, based on facts and logic, much less an understanding of the inherent limitations of the office of president.

More than two centuries ago, Edmund Burke said: "Constitute government how you please, infinitely the greater part of it must depend upon the exercise of the powers which are left at large to the prudence and uprightness of ministers of state."

In other words, the personal character of the people to whom you entrust the powers of government matters even more than what kinds of government institutions there are. There have been some good kings and some bad presidents, as well as vice versa.

You need q-Tips obviously.

Trump has a 2A policy equal to George Washington’s, Jefferson’s foreign policy, Lincoln’s trade policy, Ike’s immigration policy, Reagan’s policy on taxes and Taft’s policy on regulation. I’m in the mood for a President Taft redux. Us Lefty’s out here on FR are all too stupid to select an agenda. Ok. We’ll see Monday night.

“Grow Up!”

Does anyone ask Hillary! or Bernie to grow up, or Harry Reid, or the Kennedy boy? What about the other so-called Progressives who behave like petulant children when they’re caught with their hands in the cookie jar? And what about the ever-present Anthony Weiner who declared himself on the floor of the House to be an “elite”? Or that other senator who laid a blanket accusation on American Soldiers as being fascistic? And most of all, the president who had serial sexual relations while in office was never asked to
“grow up”.

Is it non-Progressives who are always at fault and out of step?

Just saying.

IMHO

“In less than 24 hours he put together an impressive event...”

That’s what impressed me the most about this whole thing. Trump pulled together some very significant resources, from scratch (including extended prime airtime on a major news station), in a short amount of time...and produced VERY significant results.

For a rally that was solely to “enhance Trump”, he sure spent a lot of time (most of it, actually) giving the stage to his small-time supporters, big-time supporters, political rivals (Huckabee, Santorum), and military veterans.

World wide the political elite are taking their citizens where they have expressly said they did not want to go.

History has shown that citizens will put up with a lot, until that point is reached when they decide enough is enough.

I think the French Revolution is closer to what we will see then the American Revolution.

Obama begat Trump. It’s as simple as that. Sorry, Doc.

Ok - I’ll bite. The POTUS job is an executive position. Sowell apparently forgets what Trump has accomplished. Who running has a better executive record than Trump? Who can we trust to run and improve a large organization right off the bat? Who can we trust to reverse the trend of government benefiting those at the edges of the spectrum ? Who can tell both the poor to take advantage of America’s opportunity and the Chamber of Commerce to quit asking for favors and go compete? Who can say build a damn wall and stop pretending it’s all ok? Who could demand budget cuts (and get them) across the board?
Tell me who that is? Give me someone and I’ll jump.

"however, trump would be wise to remember not to go to war with a man that buys ink by the barrel".

Generally sound advice.

However, in this case, Trump owns the ink factory AND the cooperage. Win, win, win for him.

He’s got an arrogant streak, no doubt about it.

I think he senses a building destiny and is taking that as an excuse to strut around.

To be fair I think he means “virtual murder.” He has to be understood as the hyperbole artist he is.

He needs to learn some humility or there will be trouble. But still if God has destined him, once he learns the humility he will be back on course.

Fox and Trump had this all planned out. It was all show.

Then they are excellent at faking their emotions.

Donald Trump does sound considerably more merciful than this. He’s only virtually biting heads off. He’s arrogant, but he’s also taking down a lot of other proud people.

I know it - messianic demagogue. They’re completely unhinged. The people - not the media and the lefty’s - like someone and they have to tell everyone how stupid they are. I’ve cheered on Dr. Sowell these 30 years and what did I ever get for it save a humongous tax bill and a mountain of regulation and the nightly news calling me a racist every day. I’ve studied Burke and Bastiat and Ricardo for what? Government corruption and 100 million fellow Americans not working. This year is the chance and I’m taking it.

It does look kind of selective sometimes.

Well maybe God said if this had to be a playground, let’s show it a real bully, but a bully who has a generous soul nonetheless.

Agree.

Plus, bonus points for using the word "cooperage".
