Unbelievable – Ted Cruz Campaign Sends Out Personal “Shaming Letters” To Iowa Voters…
conservativetreehouse ^ | 1/30/2016 | sundance

Posted on 01/29/2016 10:28:45 PM PST by 20yearsofinternet

The personalized letters target individual Iowa voters and identifies them as having failed to vote in prior elections. They are admonished and then encouraged to vote this year. In addition the letters identify the neighbors of the voter, and provides their voting history.

The text reads:

"You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area. Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors' are public record. Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well. CAUCUS ON MONDAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. A follow-up notice may be issued following Monday's caucuses".

In an effort to shame the recipient, the notice also informs the targeted voter their neighbors have also been notified of the recipients poor voting record.

Give up already! Is there anybody on this thread supporting you?

I never base my opinions on whether they're popular or not. I tell it like I see it and never back down in the face of adversity. Cruz has a massive campaign with plans to fix so many problems in our country, including getting the Supreme Court right. To focus on a single piece of advertising, and, worse, to say it's some kind of disqualifying factor, when we have MAJOR ISSUES at stake in this election is truly not seeing the forest for the trees. It is also a hysterical, hyperbolic overreaction, largely spurred on by Team Trump, who has set the tone for relentless, unfair, dishonest attacks on Cruz.

You can be natural-born without being born in the territory of the U.S. As long as the law says you’re a citizen at birth you’re a natural-born citizen. That should be patently obvious from the meaning of the words in the phrase.

You got your law degree where? Even the liberals go to Constitutional lawyer, Larry Tribe, would tell you and Cruz, you are whacked out under ‘original intent’. Larry would tell you Cruz is NOT eligible following ‘original intent’. Cruz’s claim to fame has been to follow the ‘original intent’ of the Constitution. Except he demands for himself an exemption.

Conservatives usually do not have much use for the entitlement class.

Tough love? Seems you see voters as children.

More than half the country voted for Obama and more than half the Republicans voted for Romney. I could say a lot worse things about voters than that they're children. Marketing to people involves manipulating people who are often poor decision-makers.

Absolutely wrong. Natural-born subjects in Britain included people born to citizens outside the country. That language was carried over into the Constitution. The vast majority of scholars agree that was the original intent.

This cannot be possible true.

Where are the usual Cruzers, that post stuff every morning.

I think a little note that is personal would be nice, but having my neighbor’s also?

Total hyperbole. This is a totally silly, inconsequential issue with a shelf-life that will probably last another hour or so.

No, this is most likely fatal for the Cruz campaign. This is only a couple hours old, and is already as viral as viral can be. I suspect by noon tomorrow, Cruz will be down in the low single digits in Iowa, and by noon on Tuesday he'll be announcing that his campaign is over.

This is worse than the Howard Dean blowout. At least they dude waited until he won something.

The only possible explanation is that Cruz got talked into hiring some former Romney campaign people. Those creeps are famous for sabotaging campaigns from the inside. Maybe Glenn Beck had something to do with it.

Can't wait to hear the excuses tomorrow.

Obviously you found some internet site that fits what you want to believe. Cruz is so sure of his standing he shouts it from the mountain top every day. NOT... You are not going to like where Cruz's eligibility is going to end up. But one thing for sure you can blame trump...

I guess immigration and naturalization services of the department of justice has been teaching people who want to become citizens all wrong for all these years when their course materials say over and over (and I quote exactly), “You must be born in the United States. “

Trump has no Pacs, so anyone doing this would be doing it not even remotely tethered to Trump. But it could be someone from Cruz’ camp who did, and they’ll find some guy who did it, who is for Trump.

Yeah, well, maybe this will motivate them to the polls. Might not be what Cruz wants, but hey, voting can be an important action.

-- Personally, I'd be REALLY pissed at anyone trying to "shame" me into doing anything, and I'd be almost guaranteed to do the opposite of what I was trying to be "shamed" into doing. --

The taunt in this case is supposed to, I think, come off as non-partisan. It's "Get out and vote," not "get out and vote for me." Now, there are two ways to get even with a person you read as saying "get out and vote for me." One way is to not vote, the other is to get out and vote for his opponent.

Heh, so you’re actually using liberals’ positions and spokespeople to defend your argument? And you think this helps you?

Conservatives usually do not try to deny people their God-given constitutional rights, except when it comes to denying them to the main threat to Trump’s campaign, apparently. So much for putting principles over politics.

"Here's a pic of the beautiful letter I received from Donald J. Trump today. Meticulously timed, and includes not only my individual caucus location, but also a Voter Registration Form for all his new voters out there!

Ground Game ... With Class!"

Obviously the Trump Gnomes kicking it into high gear...
