Red Alert: Fox Debate’s Gotcha-Video Is Sign of Media Sucker Punches to Come
Breitbart News ^ | 29 Jan 2016 | John Nolte

Posted on 01/29/2016 1:10:26 PM PST by detective

During Thursday night's Republican primary debate, in order to attack and bloody both Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Fox News used selectively-edited video montages of both senators saying stuff. Video is the most powerful propaganda weapon ever conceived, and not only is the use of gotcha-video in a presidential debate highly prejudicial and subjective, a debate setting is not the proper venue for any sort of gotcha question.

Save the cheap gotchas for interviews. Debates are about issues, the differences between the candidates, and the differences with one another that they wish to highlight.

Kelly and co have been terrible in both debates, but they also think they are smarter than the viewers and the candidates.
Trump said screw you and I wish Cruz had too.

I can only imagine the videos they had lined up for Trump.

This would NEVER happen at a Democratic debate.

People are calling Trump "cowardly", "thin-skinned" and worse for skipping the debate but he's the only one in recent memory that actually stood up for himself and took a stand.

If I remember correctly, Ronald Reagan was the last Republican candidate to skip a primary debate and then he had his "I'm paying for this microphone" moment at another primary debate. They didn't mess with Reagan too much after that.

all the candidates should've stated that was not the way to run a "debate" and walked off...

One actually did that, presciently .

Just one of the reasons I support him.

It’s time for us to stand and put an end to this media trash. Our Presidential elections are not forums for those who break our laws or the religions of our attackers. Their input is not wanted or needed. If they become Americans in the future, they still must respect America
and her citizens.

Presidential candidates in America don’t have to run gauntlets of every subversive entity in the nation to let the American people know where they stand. Megyn Kelly and Fox News are nothing more than peddlers of sensationalistic trash no better than Stern and Springer.

America deserves a better way to listen to all political hopefuls than through the lens of trash media.

Moderators are not supposed to preside at a hanging - although they are supposed to ask tough questions.

the FNC moderators are partisans, clearly - and should be shunned because of it.

Those “gotcha” videos raise legitimate questions, the same kind we asked about John Kerry when he was running.

Where, really, do these candidates stand on important issues? It’s fair to remind them of their own words.

Trump was too chicken to face his flip-flops.

Internet polls are unreliable. Remember how Ron Paul won them all four years ago?

The only polls that matter starting Monday are those at the caucuses and polling places. Till then, it’s all a guess.

No, all of us don’t. Some however are products of years of mind numbing media swill and simply don’t know the difference. America’s Presidential election isn’t supposed to be run like Survivor.

Read the Communist papers from 1963 where they lay out their plans for America’s destruction. This is part of it.

Sorry Jedidah,

This was NOT a poll.

People actually CAST their vote the same way they do when they walk into a voting booth.

You can deny anything you want from Jesus Christ to AIDS.. but 1-million plus people stated their CHOICE and nearly 60$ said TRUMP please.

“Trump was right to walk away and I wanted Cruz to do the same. It should have been those two on the debate last night and to hell with Kelly and FOX.”

Yep.

I agree.

“Keep in mind that just a few weeks ago, Trump singularly upset the whole election apple cart!”

I generally agree fully. It was truly fantastic

But Trump list me in the way he went after Cruz. And then it turns out he is a Soros associate. And then GOPe starts to jake nice with him and he praises Reid and Pelosi.

It’s just weird.

Well, one would think so. However, judging from post after post since the beginning of the week, Trump is a low life for walking away and not participating, but Cruz is a hero for participating in the inquisition.

Personally, they should all tell fox and others of that ilk to eff off.

Actually, they are supposed to stick the knife in and twist, the idea being to bring out any candidate weaknesses, before they manifest themselves after the candidate wins office. I don't have a problem with Cruz being targeted. If he's any good, he'll survive the baptism of fire. And I won't whine that he was unfairly treated if he crashes out. Life is unfair. It's the nature of the game - there's only one winner in this primary cycle. The rest get, at best, consolation prizes.

No, all of us don’t.

If Trump were my son whom I wanted greatly to win even if he weren't suited for the job, I wouldn't want him to be sucker punched along with the other candidates. But he's not my son and he's running for the highest office in the land. If he can't handle mere questions, how would he handle real crises? By pretending they don't exist? Abstaining from a decision?
