No one ever really doubted that Donald Trump could pull off a major counter-programing feat -- even when competing with a GOP debate that was expected to draw millions of viewers.
He did it Thursday night, dazzling a crowd of hundreds of enthusiastic supporters by announcing that he had raised more than $6 million for veterans in one day -- $1 million of it from his own checkbook. "We love our vets," he said.
"You know, my whole theme is make America great again and that's what we're going to do --- and we wouldn't have even been here if it weren't for our vets," Trump said

Any news on the ratings ?
Thank you. List seems varied and should please all vets.
Thanks for posting this.
The name of the author of the article should be included at the top of the FR thread.
To pull something like this together in 24 hrs is amazing. Just think what he could do in 8 years.
I was particularity please to see DAV in there. DAV is a very good group.
Trump showed that he didn’t have to play by the media”s rules. That is very much a positive.
I think this was highlighted in an earlier post, but it deserves repeating. All those cameras that Trump referred to when he approached the lectern means that there were a lot of local Iowa television channels covering the event and available to Iowans who may not have cable. It would be interesting to see the extent of this local reach versus the exclusive cable copyrighted Fox debate.
Not a bad list. Wounded Warriors gets a lot of coverage and donations. These smaller, yet important ones need the support and recognition, also.
Of course the haters will be in soon to discredit each and every one of them. DU trolls and such.
Missed seeing DAV and it was a prominent second on the list. Time for a visit to the optometrist.
Wonder which event pulled in the most viewers....or if the debate ratings fell since Trump wasn't there.
ROFL!
The wife said CNN didn’t allow viewers to hear the event, instead commentators including Van Jones said it was boring.
I watched on YouTube the whole event was fascinating and I’m deeply offended if they called riveting speeches by heroe’s “boring”. But I’m not surprised they didn’t want their viewers seeing the military in a positive light.
The largest word on the sign in front of the lectern is TRUMP. It is not difficult to work out what this event was about.
Can you imagine how long it would have taken if this was put together by ANY govt. agency?
Not to mention how much it would have cost.
