About 15 years ago, I said something nasty on CNN about Donald Trump's hair. I can't now remember the context, assuming there was one. In any case, Trump saw it and left a message the next day. "It's true you have better hair than I do," Trump said matter-of-factly. "But I get more pussy than you do."
At the time, I'd never met Trump and I remember feeling amused but also surprised he'd say something like that. Now the pattern seems entirely familiar. The message had all the hallmarks of a Trump attack: shocking, vulgar and indisputably true.
Not everyone finds it funny. On my street in Northwest Washington, D.C., there's never been anyone as unpopular as Trump. The Democrats assume he's a bigot, pandering to the morons out there in the great dark space between Georgetown and Brentwood. The Republicans (those relatively few who live here) fully agree with that assessment, and they hate him even more. They sense Trump is a threat to them personally, to their legitimacy and their livelihoods. Idi Amin would get a warmer reception in our dog park.
Snip...Let that sink in. Conservative voters are being scolded for supporting a candidate they consider conservative because it would be bad for conservatism? And by the way, the people doing the scolding? They're the ones who've been advocating for open borders, and nation-building in countries whose populations hate us, and trade deals that eliminated jobs while enriching their donors, all while implicitly mocking the base for its worries about abortion and gay marriage and the pace of demographic change. Now they're telling their voters to shut up and obey, and if they don't, they're liberal.

A broken clock is right twice a day. Great article.
Bump!
True, that was a rumor that either Ivana or Marla Maples were strippers although both have had stripping incidences...
Yep, old Chatsworth Osborne, Jr. really nails it with this article.
Thank you.
It’s hard for us in here - the political junkies - to step back away from our chosen sides in here and LOOK. We talk to our less involved friends and try to steer them, because they don’t pay such close attention. In a way, that’s exactly what the media and people like the NRO mob did on a different scale.
If you honestly step back and look back at this race from the start, Trump has led the way in every aspect. Immigration. Taxes, Second Amendment. Taking down the media. Exposing who the open border RINOs for who they really are. Exposing the big money sham our political system has become.
It’s truly time for change. Not the kind of change that gets lip service and then business as usual, but instead the .45 round to the kneecap with the promise that the next one goes into the forehead.
No one but Trump can bring that to the political process.
If we choose a weaker opponent, then the Rats will win, and we will have to water the tree with real blood of patriots who refuse to become dihimminis.
Not “her” obviously but I had read that about one of his two exes (both of whom have done well publicized stripping gigs by the way, either for a show or as a charity event).
Devastating description of the DC establishment. Think tanks and lobbyists and academics, oh my! They all read the same stuff and send their kids to nice, protected schools with a fine future ahead of them firmly embedded in the worm-eaten structure of bureaucracy. The rest of us pay for it. Dissatisfaction? There has to be a stronger word than that.
wow...
some one in the media is starting to get it!
It’s certainly possible he is positioning. Let’s see if there is a trend here—if others start following suit.
I agree completely.
This may be the BEST article i’ve read that explains Trumps appeal.
For once in his miserable spoon fed life Tucker gets it.
L
AND YET, Tucker Carlson probably doesn’t even realize what he just said. I bet they would give Satan a warmer reception. Or just about any corrupt human being. Nice to know.>>>> i don’t think you can give Satan anything warmer but i get the point.
I’ve never agreed with Tucker Carlson so thoroughly before. Good article.

Yep. Trump has lead the way. When Hillary attacked last month, Trump counter attacked and won. Cruz cut and run. That’s very instructive, IMO.
Deriding Trump is an act of class solidarity, visible evidence of refinement and proof that you live nowhere near a Wal-Mart.
LOL!
Actually I thought it was a quote from a note Reagan sent to Sam Donaldson. Pure class.
Yes he has had the support of 35% of republican primary voters from day one. A plurality. Miles from a majority.
Of course he didn’t. He purchased her as a mail order bride fair and square.
Good article.
EXCELLENT column, thanks!
