Huckabee to attend Trump event after undercard debate
Washington Examiner ^ | 1/28/2016 | Al Weaver

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee will be attending Donald Trump's Thursday night event, which is attempting to rival the GOP debate down the street in Iowa's capital city.

According to a tweet, the 2016 candidate will participate in the undercard debate and then head off to Drake University, where Trump is holding his event after bolting from the debate as his disputes continue with Fox News and Megyn Kelly, who is set to co-moderate the event.

Huckabee's announcement is part of a last ditch effort for the 2008 Iowa caucus victor to boost his standing with caucus-goers before Monday. Trump had tweeted earlier Thursday that two GOP candidates had called him about possibly attending the event, which his campaign says will benefit wounded veterans. Huckabee's participation allows Trump to claim a past caucus winner's support for the event.

I’d develop some respect for him if he actually dropped the debate and went to the rally.

I sure hope he brings that 4 string bass guitar, that man has more talent in his two fingers than my pet goat on a bucket.

I admire that.

I can’t recall ever seeing Huckabee praised this much on FR.

  • Go Ted Cruz! Go Donald Trump!
  • Beat Hillary C., Bernie S., Joe B., Elizabeth W., and Martin O.

Fireman, you are 100% correct Republicans must unite and find commonality.
I would be happy with either of these men as POTUS.
Many here find the vicious anti-Trump sentiment perplexing and offensive.

Offending followers of the candidate who currently has the most support by double digits and then attacking a good man is not the way to bring them to your favorite. You and some others here are hurting Ted Cruz’s chances of getting the nomination.

Well, if because some Free Republic posters do not bow down, submit and worship Donald Trump (LET US PRAISE HIM) hurts Ted Cruz’ chances of getting the nomination, then things have degenerated even quicker than I thought.

These guys - Huckabee and Santorum - are smart. They are joining with the guy who is one caucus primary away from the White House. They may have just won themselves a place in the Trump administration.

You’re right.

Honestly, it’s pathetic that Trump is using a wounded veterans benefit this way. Cynical and manipulative. And that Huckabee would join in on the drama is just pathetic.

Besides helping raise money for Vets,
This could help the Huck and Santorum voters stay with their
respective candidates, instead of listening to Cruz’s plea to unite
behind him to defeat Trump.

I like their participation for a lot of reasons.

He’s not a bad man, and he is Christian. He can help get this country back on track spiritually.

Santorum is even better than Donald on immigration, IMO. Unforunately, he has the “loser” tag permanently upon him.

Governor Huckabee has appealed to me as a decent, level-headed, and astute man.
I like that he has honorably chosen not to mudsling at Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.

No, you and a few others have been making repeated outrageous and inaccurate statements over and over and over again in any and everything thread concerning the presidential primary. It is both disturbing and suggests either a pathological problem or other malevolent intent. It is certainly not helpful to Ted Cruz. It is so unhelpful that I and a great many others who understand how devastating it would be if the Democrats took the Whitehouse this time... that there has been a much speculation that you and your buddies have no interest in helping Ted at all.

Wow, just wow....so if someone who is SUPPOSED to be a Cruz supporter (but who may simply be, in YOUR speculation, merely masquerading as a supporter) says something that YOU (or other TRUMP supporters) view as “outrageous and inaccurate” than that Cruz supporter’s postings suggest he/she has “a pathological problem or other malevolent intent”. And you further speculate that such Cruz posters “have no interest in helping Ted at all”.

I guess you’re suggesting that we go light on your messiah so as to help Ted Cruz. I guess I’m going to just have to not take your advice...as well-intentioned (ha!) as it is.
