Donald Trump will soon betray the GOP
The Week ^ | 1/28 | Paul Waldman

Posted on 01/28/2016 8:22:06 AM PST by TangledUpInBlue

I say that because there's no reason to think that Trump won't turn on a dime the instant he has to face a general electorate, and begin advocating a whole new set of policies. He adopted an entirely new set of beliefs for this race, one attuned to what his current audience wants — not just xenophobic, but fervently pro-life, pro-gun, pro-God, and pro-whatever else he thinks primary voters want to hear. Trump panders shamelessly to whoever he's talking to, he has no genuine ideology, and he won't feel tied to anything he's said before, any more than he's tied to his previous positions on health care or abortion.

Unlike other politicians who struggle to explain any hint of contradiction between what they're advocating now and what they've advocated before, Trump waves it all away. Remember all the painful contortions Mitt Romney went through to convince Republicans he was in complete agreement with them and had renounced his prior hints of moderation? Trump doesn't bother with that. Who cares what I said then? This is what I'm saying now, and anyone who has a problem with it is a low-energy loser.

Waldman also thinks Bernie Sanders isn’t going to bankrupt the country! He appears to be just another SP capo Liberal at the Washcompost.

Yeah, because his books have been saying the same things for over 30 years, he’s going to change his mind overnight because a desperate Cruz campaign is grasping at straws?

Whatever.

I’m pretty sure my memory of the last 8 years of congressional GOP tidal wave victories tells me they are screwing us over big time...

The ROI on the GOP is less than zero....

I’m at least thankful for my governor and the state house here in Wisconsin - they are returning dividends..

No, he won’t betray the GOP. Donald is right out in the open about who he is and what his plans are. People choose to follow him in spite of, or because of, his plans. I think Conservatives backing him is ‘confusing’.

We’ve been scammed by the GOPe for years. Nothing but a bunch of self serving hypocrites left in congress. The absolute corruption there makes the Mafia look like a church group.

Do you even know what the GOP is and stands for nowadays?

Dumb article.

I’d rather give Trump one chance to betray me than give the GOP their 17th.

Exactly!

... Are we being scammed?
You tell me:
Donnie supports Planned Parenthood. (Yeah he was against PP before he changed his mind a few days later).
Donnie told BOR in August/September “we have to support Syrian refugees”. Whoops, didn’t play well so he went to ban all Muslims.
Donnie was for deporting all illegals, round them up. Whoops, shortly thereafter supported round them all up, fly them home, then let them back in.
In December he attacked Scalia and supported affirmative action. Can’t remember the excuse for this but trumpees have one.
All that matters to trumpees is that he is mean to the press and GOPE. Whoops? He is now bragging he can work with all those lefties.
A 69-year-old progressive that trumpees believe why?

Betray the GDOP?

The GDOP has betrayed the trust of millions of Americans who thought the GDOP represented the interests of Conservatives.

Pull off the mask and you’ll find a division of the Democrat (never ‘ic’) Party.

Read Donald Trump’s books. Look at the videos from 1980 on. He has the same positions on what really matters. There is not one video out there where Donald Trump says his objective is “world domination”. He has always just wanted to Make America Great Again!

How quickly Trump pandered in signing the pledge when his poll numbers tanked.

He already betrayed the GOP by scheduling a televised event in direct competition to the GOP sponsored debate. Trump is in the process of forming a third party.

Fill in the blank:

+/- 20-25 years before becoming a prominent conservative and eventual Republican presidential candidate, ___________began his political career as a Democrat. He joined numerous political committees with a left-wing orientation, such as the American Veterans Committee. He fought against Republican-sponsored right-to-work legislation.

He planned to lead an anti-nuke demonstration and only his employer's intervention prevented it. He was elected president of a large, famous union twice--a union which had known communists among its members. He appeared ONSTAGE to endorse the Democratic presidential candidate, who subsequently won.

19 years later, as a governor he signed into law a liberalization of abortion that led to an explosion of abortions in his state.

Almost 20 years later, as president, he signed a law that legalized all illegal immigrants who had arrived in the US during the first almost 200 years of the existence of our nation.

I'll fill in the blank for you: our greatest president of the 20th century, known as Ronaldus Magnus, RONALD REAGAN.
