Byron York: Trump debate dodge fuels doubts, boosts Cruz
Washington Examiner ^ | January 27, 2016 | Byron York

BLOOMFIELD, Iowa - James and Brooks Schooley are raising a young family in this tiny Iowa community. They support Ted Cruz and brought their kids to an old church near the Bloomfield town square to hear the candidate, along with Iowa Rep. Steve King and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

The Schooleys like Cruz's faith and his fealty to the Constitution. But their choice is also shaped by their wariness of the Republican front-runner, Donald Trump.

"He's not principled," James Schooley told me, referring to Trump. "He just goes by emotion."

"I feel like he doesn't stick to the Constitution the way Ted Cruz would," added Brooks. "Once you go away from that, then where's your standard? I mean, you can do anything."...

All I know is that up until six month ago, Donald Trump spent his whole adult life praising our enemies and attacking conservatives. Why the Trumpets can’t get their brain around this is beyond me.

Brian York wishes.

Every night, each of the political pundits prays to whatever God, god or goddess (In Ms. Kelly's room, it is a picture of herself!) that they might be able to be relevant again!

Ain't gonna happen. The MSN, along with the DNC and RNC, have been revealed to be part of the DC Uni-Party, aka “The Cabal”.

Where is Cruz walking out? Why does it take TRUMP to lead the way all the time? Leaders lead. Followers follow.

Is that right??? Well, let's look at what Trump said 4 years ago, when the GOP candidates "led" by refusing to attend a debate with a biased moderator:

"We're not seeing a lot of courage here, are we? Not lots of courage, these Republicans. They're supposed to be brave."

So Trump himself said that candidates who refuse to show up because of a biased moderator were afraid...

Oh, the moderators for that debate were to be... Megyn Kelly and Donald Trump. And it was because Donald was talking about entering the race himself that the others refused to have him as a moderator. They weren't afraid of Kelly.

Coming off as a greasy opportunist makes Cruz look good?

More reports of Trump’s demise. Amazing not a vote has been cast. When Ted loses Iowa he’ll head back to Canada with his tails between his legs.

Even if Trump loses 10% he still is double-digits ahead of the others.

Not in Iowa, he's not.

Trump should debate himself. Who would win?

"He's not principled," James Schooley told me, referring to Trump. "He just goes by emotion."

Speaking of emotion, have you noticed how the "Breaking News" section is filled with threads supporting Trump (PEACE BE UPON HIM)? Trump shows up at a campaign event, and it's 'Breaking News'? Reagan skips a debate from 36 years ago, and it's 'Breaking News'? With these emotional responses, I see nothing that separates these worshipers (SO SAYETH THE SHEPHERD, SO SAYETH THE FLOCK) from Democrats.

I’d bet his PROGRESSIVE side...it’s far more ingrained than his poseur & superficial conservatism.

No, Ihaven’t, but I have noticed the pathalogical hatred of Mr. Trump which will alienate a significant part of the Conservative electorate and give Hitlery the next four years.

Way to go, Genius. Never let intelligent discussion stand in the way of name-calling!

Bryan York’s opinion isn’t any more important than mine. He has exposed himself. Trump doesn’t need NR or any of the so called conservative pundits and they are beside themselves! I for one applaud Trump’s decision; we need someone with guts for a change!

The title is exactly wrong.

I’m a Cruz guy, and I totally understand Donald’s maneuver.

Donald evades the debate in which Debate Champ Cruz’s only job was to clean Donald’s clock. And Donald gets to blame someone else.

Frickin’ brilliant.

The man definitely makes more appearances on TV and in person that anyone else, I’d say.
