As news spread of Donald Trump's intention to boycott the Republican debate this Thursday, Ted Cruz's national press secretary tweeted out that the Texas senator wished to challenge the GOP frontrunner to a "mano a mano."
Cruz made the remarks to Mark Levin on his radio show Tuesday night. "If Donald is afraid of Megyn Kelly," Cruz said, "I would like to invite him... to participate in a one-on-one debate, between me and Donald, mano a mano."

Cruz floated Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh as possible moderators -- but he also said he'd be willing to take him on with no moderator at all, should Trump prove to be afraid of all those people too.
He pondered how Trump could be commander-in-chief if he was "terrified of a TV host."

As much as I admire Trump for his boldness, Cruz would wipe the floor with him in a straight debate.

The RNC cannot prevent two candidates who agree on their own to do something. You might not have noticed but the RNC isn’t running this election. They’re along for the ride.
I’m not sure it’s a good idea for Cruz to imitate Jeb and Rubio with talking to people in Spanish. Plays right into Trump’s hands.
Cruz is baiting him. I suspect Donald won't be able to stop himself from responding. It might get fun in a twisted, destructive sort of way. I had actually hoped that Cruz would just join Trump in boycotting Fox and all debates with overly biased "moderators" who want to be the story not report or moderate.
Yet Jindal challenged Cruz this same way and Cruz poo pooed it. Jindal quit 3 weeks later.

He's been in debates with Trump how many times now? What's he waiting for, his turn?
Once he finds the debate will go on as scheduled, Trump will demand to be let back in.
