As news spread of Donald Trump's intention to boycott the Republican debate this Thursday, Ted Cruz's national press secretary tweeted out that the Texas senator wished to challenge the GOP frontrunner to a "mano a mano."

Cruz made the remarks to Mark Levin on his radio show Tuesday night. "If Donald is afraid of Megyn Kelly," Cruz said, "I would like to invite him... to participate in a one-on-one debate, between me and Donald, mano a mano."

Cruz made the remarks to Mark Levin on his radio show Tuesday night. "If Donald is afraid of Megyn Kelly," Cruz said, "I would like to invite him... to participate in a one-on-one debate, between me and Donald, mano a mano."

Cruz floated Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh as possible moderators -- but he also said he'd be willing to take him on with no moderator at all, should Trump prove to be afraid of all those people too.

He pondered how Trump could be commander-in-chief if he was "terrified of a TV host."

Trump’s right, six debates with no end in sight. They just want the money, cut them off.

This was an ambush anyway, timing, Megyn, whole thing stinks to high heaven.

70% of us do not see DT as presidential material

Trump dominating Cruz in FR caucus.

Trump clearly the choice of the true conservatives! Also, his face is not made of playdough like Cruz's.

You’re on. Trump hides it well but if you see him on the golf course he has a bad case of bloat.

That is all Ted Cruz is...a debater. Not a doer. That’s why he likely won’t be in the race a month from now.

What would the Trump supporters say if it were Cruz who was too scared to face a member of the press?

Cruz doesn't have the hammer to do it. He's a lifetime schyster and bureaucrat.

"The reality is setting in that Trump is a bellowing gas bag and is afraid of a girl."

You nailed it. I watched him on "Special Report" tonight, and that's all he was - a bellowing gas bag. He didn't answer any tough questions, and simply filibustered the whole interview. He certainly looks afraid of tough questions from Kelly. If he can't handle Kelly, how's he going to deal with the Chinese?

A good old-fashioned Lincoln-Douglas debate. No moderator. I’d love to see that.

Cruz realized this move out flanked him, so he’s trying to “out tough” Trump by running to Levin.

Trump takes on the Press. Ted says “look at me too”!

I think you are a smart enough guy to realize Kelly had nothing else in mind than destroying Trump.

Who is supposed to make that decision, Kelly or the voters?

It’s all part of the Art of the Deal. Don’t think for a moment Fox isn’t playing along. 12 hours before debate, they come to an “agreement” Trump flies in on his 757, does the debate, Fox gets 30 million viewers.

Why didn’t he crush him in the NY Values debate? Why didn’t he ‘crush’ Rubio in the immigration debate?

I guess ‘intended to’, but just didn’t get around to it.

Senator Cruzman Sach’s debating skills appear to be oversold.

Trump going straight to the people. Controlling the narrative. All other candidates on defense. Strange election. Total chaos.

Maybe keeping with the “Vets” theme - major endorsements from retired military?
