If the opinions of the posters had to comply with Jim's opinions, it would turn into a private conversation with the boss.

Bump.

I agree. Cruz is smart, but has too much ambition for his wisdom. He is not a populist nor is he seasoned enough. He needs a liitle humility. He needs to understand Beck is a liability and that he doesn’t proves the above. Ah youth. Right now he is not good for country. Later can be good if he gets rid of his donors.

VERY nice post, Jim. It captures my thinking exactly. These are, IMHO, revolutionary times and I hope that when 2017 arrives we have a President for whom we can be proud and who will be proud of us. If Trump actually follows up his campaign TALK and WALKS THE WALK, he will go down in history as one of the GREAT presidents. And WALKING THE WALK will halt the destruction of the American Republic specifically and, hopefully (but with far less centainty), Western Civilization in general.

But I’ve been disappointed before and the last thing I want to see is the “Revolution” betrayed and “compromised away” by its leaders.

I agree. I like Ted and taking cash from dubious sources isn’t my problem with him, frankly. However, I am going to vote for Trump in the primary here in Georgia because he will take the state based on polling and because I think he’ll be the only nominee that would relentlessly go against anything and everything against Hillary in any debate.

If Ted gets the majority for nomination, then I will wholeheartedly vote for him in the general election even though he’s linked up with that maniac Glenn Beck.

Waiting with bated breathe to see posted stories that Ted Cruz slaps kitty cats and steals nickels and dimes from Catholic nuns. The internet version of the Nazi Brown Shirts ... all tolerated by Jim Robinson ...

Both sides have their lackeys. Plenty of blame to go around.

As most often occurs, I agree with your perspectives and analysis.
To me it is sad that Cruz has allowed himself to be marginalized — but it will be as it will be, not withstanding various opinions including my own. My biggest concern is winning the general election and it will be brutal come November given the stakes and the national rancor that has developed over the last decade plus.
Thanks to Free Republic we have a forum to read various conservative perspectives and learn the truth.
Thank you, Jim Robinson, for providing this forum and your views. Always appreciated.

I’ve been for Cruz first all along. But he’s missing the boat. Trump has outflanked him, has him confused, has him rattled and now Cruz is falling into the same trap as Bush, Carson, Fiorina and all the others who attacked him and lost.
Personal attack mode against the populist favorite and national leader buys you no points whatsoever. Cruz should ignore Trump and stay on HIS OWN message! And make it bolder!

Yup...he should have out trumped Trump. If Cruz had said said in bold terms "Stop Muslims from coming in until we get a handle on the problem" he would have gotten the press and the poll numbers. But nearly all politicians have fallen into the PC trap to some degree of another. They're not in touch. Trump is. His friends and confidantes aren't politicians but business people who are involved in the lives of real people.

Trump has actually become my sincere favorite.

It takes ego and ambition to go into politics at all, but I don’t believe that political ambition per se is Trump’s main motivation. I believe he loves this Country and sees it dying; and he’s in an excellent position to try and do something about it. He doesn’t need any more feathers in his cap, and could easily have foregone this and continued his fabulous life. Instead, he has stuck his neck out and done all of us an enormous service.

I’m sure Cruz loves our Country too, and I will vote for him if he’s the nominee. But recent events have magnified a ‘twinge’ I felt on the day that he announced, one that I’ve tried to discount and finally can’t: I honestly believe that Cruz’ personal political ambition has always been his driving force; and this is causing him to make some serious mistakes.

I’m more comfortable with Trump as President, this highly crucial ‘time around’. As I and many have said, Cruz is young; there’s plenty of time for him.

Is this the kind of discourse you are looking for Jim? If this is indicative of the way FR perceives Cruz, then we have come a long way since you warned FReepers against supporting a RINO like Guiliani back in the day.

I do believe that Cruz has the capability of wooing the masses.

We'll know in a few weeks.

If Cruz overtakes Trump and begins winning primaries that will go a long way towards erasing doubts about his ability to win the general election.

If he loses the first three he won't be the candidate and it's all academic.

Life certainly has changed since the days of the FBI’s illegal wiretaps of the SDS, Weathermen, MLK and others, hasn't it? Life was so much simpler in the olden days. :).

Yes; wiretapping has been around since the day one of telephony. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Personal attack mode against the populist favorite and national leader buys you no points whatsoever. Cruz should ignore Trump and stay on HIS OWN message! And make it bolder!

And stay the hell away from Beck, Lowry and the National RINO Review and the Gang of 22 GOP losers. The last thing Cruz needs is to team up with DC insiders!

Trump is running and winning with his anti-GOP, anti-insider, anti-establishment, anti-DC, anti-PC, anti-illegal-alien, anti-Muslim-invasion, and anti-business-as-usual platform.

He's pushing and winning with his bold secure the borders, secure the nation, deport them all, ban the Muslims, send them back, restore our religious freedom, defend our guns, defend our local education, cut the taxes, cut the regulations, cut the EPA, cut the bad deals, cut the crap, grow the economy, bring back capital and jobs, bring back manufacturing, rebuild our powerful military and make America great again message.

It's what the PEOPLE want and are hungry for. They want strong, successful, positive, bold and unabashedly pro-America, pro-capitalism leadership! A winner!

It's about the people, stupid!

Thank you so much, dearest Jim. Outstanding! Transcendent! Front-Page!

:)

Louie and I slept the afternoon away, because of the pouring rain, so before we make a quick run to the store and I get back to our FReepathon thread where I belong, I just had to to add my compliments, thanks and a comment or two.

I've posted this same before, but I'm hoping CRUZ campaigns separate and from apart from BECK because BECK ONLY WANTS to CLAIM FULL CREDIT WHEN CRUZ WINS IOWA!

Your statement that "Cruz should ignore Trump and stay on HIS OWN message! And make it bolder!" is faultlessly correct.

I am thoroughly disgusted with several of Mr. Trump's personal attacks on Cruz, particularly when he calls him a 'nasty man and liar.' Sheeeesh, save that for demonic-rats.

How is the great deal maker, POTUS going to get along with a 'nasty man and liar' in the US Senate? (I know he won't have problems with Schumer or Pelosi).

Personal attacks, like personal attacks here, don't set well with me.

It's really an almost crying shame that the two of them couldn't have waited to engage one another while the lower echelon are doing all the infighting ... spending $Millions ... striving to be number's 3, 4, & 5 ...LOL.

Yes, you are right :

...We want strong, successful, positive, bold and unabashedly pro-America, pro-capitalism leadership! A winner!

It's about the people, stupid!

QUESTION:

1. Do you think Trump will participate in FNC's Debate on Thursday, despite Megyn's presence?
