I can see 2016 from my house and i don't like what i'm seeing
LaurenStephens.com Blog ^ | January 22, 2016 | Lauren Stephens

Dear Mr. Levin,

My name is Lauren Stephens. I’ve been involved in politics for a long time – mostly just as a pissed off American, but I also own a campaign services company. I do not work for any of the Presidential Campaigns. I am not coordinated with any of them. I have not spoken to any of them. I am not being paid by anyone for this. I am getting absolutely nothing for writing this.

First off, I would like to let you know that I have been a huge fan and follower of yours since probably about 2007 or 2008. I have several, but not all, of your books. They are really good stuff. I have even downloaded the majority of your podcasts.

Mr. Levin, for years, I have had nothing but the utmost respect for you. Your word has always been your bond. If you doubt my sincerity, you can ask a former co-worker of yours from the Reagan Administration, Dixie Cassell. You could ask a real patriot, C Steven Tucker, from the Chicago area. You could ask a lot of people. They know me.

For years, you have been a champion of We The People, and maybe today, you still believe that you are. But at this point, I beg to differ. Not because I want to, but because I believe I have a little bit more inside information than you have on certain issues surrounding the Presidential race. And the GOP.

I hope you will keep in mind, my respect and admiration for you, before you respond – IF you respond. Although I am angry, I come to you without malice. I am here simply because I know of no other way to get this message to you.

Searched and this didn't turn up as already posted.

She has close knowledge of some of the GOP antics.

She is right about the GOP establishment, but she is wrong on ethanol. It is a big deal. It is the epitome of crony capitalism that exists to enrich the few at the expense of many. If a candidate can’t even stand up to a program that is not only wasteful, but harmful, then I question that person’s ability to really make a change in DC.

And, no, I’m not a Cruz supporter. I don’t believe a word any of them say. Guess I’m too old and cynical to think elections do anything to halt the long downward slide of the US into socialism.

It was posted yesterday.
DT supporters bash anyone who does not agree with them.
Just like their Dear Leader does, which many of us do not find presidential. Would he ever get off twitter to take a 3 am call?

You are so right on ethanol: it is crony capitalism AND it’s just a plain bad deal and a bad idea.

Ethanol increases the cost of the fuel we use daily, it’s creation increases the cost of our food, it corrodes the cars, boats, and motorcycles it’s used in, and it gives no discernible benefit in terms of emissions.

It is in short, a hoax.

I don't believe a word any of them say.

That is the best place to start from.

Words from a politician are as cheap as a two dollar hooker.

And don't tell me Trump is not a politician.

She is pretty much right on target, of course it doesn’t put as much coin in the GreatOnes pocket to be fair and non-provocative.

Send the TDSets to this link, it may force some honesty.

I have one question so far .. when you donate to a candidate, you do not still have ownership of the donation. How that candidate uses that donation .. is up to them. And, I believe donation laws permit a candidate to transfer donations from one campaign to another, and/or to another candidate .. if the first candidate decides to get out of the race and has no plans to ever run again.

I will try to read all of it .. but why doesn’t this person find it necessary to micro-manage all the stuff concerning Hillary, or other liberals ..?? I have to surmise that she doesn’t like Cruz .. to which I say, HMMMMMMM ..?????

Searching on the actual title

An Open Letter to Mark Levin

does work. The confusion is that

I Can See 2016 From My House

is in the webpage's background image and only appears to be the title.

I am sure what this split-tail looney writes is going to influence Levin. It is a good guess what he will say in reply if he even feels it is worthy.

The blog author’s writing style is tedious.
However, her argument and supporting links are compelling to raise concern about Ted Cruz’s gray area integrity.
Damn -
I don’t trust Trump, and trust Cruz only a bit more.

Indeed it is. By the way, there are plenty of gas stations in Iowa that sell real gas. Farmers need good gas for their equipment, too.

There is a site and and app for finding stations that sell real gas http://pure-gas.org/ We use it a lot when we travel.

I think this kind of post is supposed to be put in "Bloggers and Personal."

That said - very informative article. Has info I wasn't aware of, all pulled together. Thanks.

P.S. - As this seems to be the only item at your link, it's not clear what you hope to gain as click bait, but I'm no expert. The only other things on your page are a Facebook link and a Twitter link.

Keeping a low profile in light of the recent rampant acrimony.
FR has enough brush fires burning without me running around tossing gasoline.

Which is kind of shame since I'm just paying a buck-fitty per gallon these days.

She is also wrong about "subsidies" for the oil and gas industry. From the American Petroleum Institute:

The U.S. oil and natural gas industry does not receive “subsidized” payments from the government to produce oil and gas. However, there are many provisions in the tax code that allow companies to recover their costs. The oil and gas industry are eligible for these deductions, which are similar to, if not the same as, deductions available to many other industries. U.S. oil and natural gas companies pay considerably more of its profits in taxes than the average manufacturing company. Tax deductions should in no way be confused with subsidies. A fundamental pillar of the U.S. income tax system is that businesses are taxed only on net income. This means that there needs to be some practical and fair method for businesses to recover costs. The policies underlying cost recovery provisions in the tax code legitimately utilized by the oil and natural gas industry are no different than those for any other industry, and are necessary to insure that our industry is treated no differently than any other. Major energy producers pay at least their fair share and are a tremendous source of public revenue – click here to view all the taxes and fees paid by the industry. Did you know, unlike some forms of energy, the U.S. oil and gas industry receives no special spending credits in the tax code? To learn more about the tax treatments of the industry and exactly why they are not a taxpayer "subsidy", see "Why Oil & Gas Tax Treatments Are Not Unique or a Subsidy."
