Here, NE of Baltimore, there is about 10” of snow on my patio table. But our cars are almost snow-free. It is still snowing, tiny flakes that get pushed everywhere by the wind. Even though the wind is not very strong at this point.

We lived in near Syracuse for 17 years. Usually we were just on the edge of the Nor’ Easters. It was hit or miss.

back in the *really* bad snows of 1993, I had a Mazda 626 that would literally plow through *anything*.

It was an otherwise piece of crap ride but worked great as an ice breaker.

;D

Man, I really miss my ‘73 Gremlin.

No terrain too tough.

LOL

Where I live, no one even slowed down to look.

We’re just not freaking out over this like those who are more, shall we say, “urbane”.

Having nothing else to do while waiting for the sun to come up, I’ve been watching the cams on Savage Mountain.

Those plowman have the roads nearly bare, already.

God bless the folks in the wastelands of Merlin.

I see it’s light, now.

Time to saddle up and grab a shovel.

:)

My son/DIL are in Fairfax. I pulled up a traffic cam of the interstate nearest them, and there is no interstate, at least not one that is visible, it’s completely covered.

Even though our Hickory, NC little town was on national tv news this morning, we have escaped the 8 or 9 inches of snow that was predicted. Maybe 4 or 5 inches would be my best guess. We have heard of multiple traffic accidents and some deaths, but no power loss and, thanks to our recent change to Charter Spectrum, no internet or tv loss. Quite sure our former Dish would have been out.

It’s early Saturday morning ..... been snowing, then sleeting, now snowing again since 10 a.m. yesterday. The wind is howling around the house & the snow is blowing hard. The local weather station is saying do not go out on the roads unless it’s an emergency.

The bird feeder is loaded with birds, hanging on for dear life as the wind blows the feeders around. The feeders are offering black oil sunflower seeds, a real favorite of all the birds around here. My dad asked last night “What do you think the coyotes are doing?” I told him they’re hunkered down in the woods some where, maybe in a den if they’ve found one, and dreaming of the chickens in the hen house.

We have plenty of food (I shopped Wednesday), the power is on, and the generator is ready to go if needed. The storm will last here into tomorrow morning and then it will be time to dig out, something I am not looking forward to - we had about 6 inches accumulated when the sleet started last night & we could get up to 10 before it’s all over. The forecast has changed due to the sleet - we previously were in the 12-18 inch zone. Hope everyone can stay safe and warm.

I wonder if they shorten the “shift” of the soldiers that are at the Tomb, in order to prevent hypothermia.

SW Pennsylvania, about 40 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. A miserable time driving home last night even though I left while there was still daylight.

Worst part by far was the last couple miles where I was going uphill and barely crawling even though I dropped it into second gear and tried to keep it slow and steady . . . any acceleration would send me fishtailing.

Snow driving skill is remarkably bad in this area. You can't believe the number of people who haven't discovered you can get increased traction (albeit slower speed) by dropping it down a gear or two.

They are either in four wheel drives who speed by as if there is nothing different and cause an accident or continue fishtailing so that the few of us in the "slow and steady" crowd end up having to slow to avoid them and lose what little traction is keeping us moving.

Worse part is when I got to the edge of my own neighborhood . . . slight incline still, but the slow moving traffic (both ways) and darkness was further hampered by kids carrying sleds or discs uphill for the thrill of another slide down.

What is wrong with these stupid parents? I realize we don't have big snows this often, but can't they wait until daylight on Saturday morning when the roads are empty and the visibility much improved. It is not likely that the snow will be gone by then!

Anyway, I am just going to go back to bed, maybe make a little love with my wife when she wakes up and, if I feel like it, venture outdoors in the afternoon when the snow quits falling to clear the driveway.

Jonas. I think naming snowstorms is probably one of the silliest things that has happened in our recent too-prissy world!

It’s snow. LOL!

Listened to WCBS NewsRadio 880 (you can live-stream it just for giggles) for about 10 minutes.

IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD!!!

One reporter informed us that there are icicles forming on her hat.

ON HER HAT!!!

Oh, the humanity!!!

She went on to say that she’s given up cleaning the snow off of her car because it keeps snowing, just putting more snow on her car.

ON HER CAR!!!

WE’RE DOOMED!!!
