Why Trump will Win
self | January 21, 2016 | Art in Idaho

Trump has the formula to win. He is combining a country-wide populism with a national conservative mood instigated by seven years of abuse from the Obama administration and acquiescence by the uniparty. People are fed up. For years now, 70% of Americans have felt the country is going in the wrong direction. I have written many rants. You each have your own rants about what's wrong with the country and everyone has just had it up to here; we're mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore.

People say Trump sold out in Iowa on the ethanol subsidies. Well, Trump is a fighter. He's doing what he needs to do to win. He's a deal maker. The conservatives say he sold out; he's really a dem that he'll make deals with the dems in Washington. Well let me tell you this, if Cruz is elected President, he will be making deals too. Let's hope Trump sticks to his "Make America Great Again" mantra when he is in office. Or another way of putting it, "Do you get the feeling from him he would make deals that would serve America's interest, or some lobbyist group?" There's only one way to find out. It's a guarantee all the others are controlled by special interests to some extent, even Cruz.

And Sarah Palin's endorsement? I'm trying not to be biased here because I love Sarah Palin, but did any of the critics bother to read Sarah's text of her endorsement speech? And BTW, all you PDSers, have you ever bothered to read anything Sarah Palin has written? Have you seen her Indianola, Iowa speech ? I didn't think so.

All we heard is what she was wearing, her voice and she rambled. Well just damn, she's fired up! She's mad as hell like the rest of us. When you're angry and want to get your point across you come across as excited. What's wrong with that? Most of us love the fact that Palin and Trump come across as being upset about no borders, the culture shift, the PC crap, the whole immigration debate, the Syrian invasion, ISIS, Obamacare, EPA, IRS scandal, Fast and Furious - don't get me started on a rant - you know what I'm talking about.

The text of Sarah's speech Here. The video Here. Her delivery was pretty down-homer to me. That says a lot. Conveying the 'one of us' theme again.

Some notables from Sarah's endorsement speech: ". . You full time Moms, you working folks in Iowa, . . It's now or never. . Capitulator in Chief. . Trump has worked in the private sector. . will keep us safe militarily and economically. . Trump has the ability . . let our warriors do their job and kick ISIS ass! . . GOP not willing to fight back. . doggone right we're angry, we are Mad and we've been Had. . a nation without borders. . . bankrupt federal government, debt, . . we're not going to chill, we're going to hold these folks accountable, . pro constitution. . It's going to take a whole team. . Fighters! . . Let em' duke it out and let Allah sortem' out. . if you go to war, you go in to win it. . Trump is not an elitist. . he has a work ethic. . he says I want you to succeed too. . Washington addicted to OPM, other people's money. . pro-life, pro-second amendment. ."

The libs may not like her style but she has a unique ability to communicate as if she's at the kitchen table and just telling it like it is. That resonates with millions of Americans. The women of America, despite what the libs say, really look up to Sarah Palin. There are millions of women in America like Sarah doing the balancing act of Wife, Mother and Breadwinner. A lot on their plate and feeling left out by the politicians. They are concerned about their children and grandchildren, their safety, whether they will have a job when they get older, lots of rant stuff. Sarah Palin and Donald Trump worry about the same issues. We the People envy both of them, in a good way.

Of course, it goes without saying that Trump's topper would be to pick Sarah Palin as his running mate. Between Trump and Palin they would OWN the Media with hours and hours of free ads. Sarah would be all over TV, Talk Radio and stumping for Trump. It would be worth it to see the media heads explode and for the beltway to finally get their comeuppance.

So, there you go. Trump will win with an alliance of populism and conservatism.

Populism: In general, ideology or political movement that mobilizes the population against an institution or government, usually in the defense of the underdog or the wronged. Whether of left, right, or middle political persuasion, it seeks to unite the uncorrupt against the corrupt dominant elites (usually the orthodox politicians) and their camp followers, (The Beltway Cartel). It is guided by the belief that political and social goals are best achieved by the direct actions of the masses. Although it comes into being where mainstream political institutions fail to deliver, there is no identifiable economic or social set of conditions that give rise to it, and it is not confined to any particular social class.

and

Conservatism: Conservatism is any political philosophy that favors tradition (in the sense of various religious, cultural, or nationally-defined beliefs and customs + the Constitution) in the face of external forces for change, ("fundamental transformation") and is critical of proposals for radical social change.

The populism/conservatism alliance will be devastating to Hillary Clinton. The minority and subgroup vote will be 20-30% Trump. The crossover blue collar and union democrats will be 30%, maybe more. I'm betting on 45 states. What's your take?

What do you want for your kids, grandkids and generations unborn? Keep in mind we're only one Supreme Court Justice away from losing the 2nd Amendment. Think on that one for a while. . The bottom line is November 8, 2016 will be the most important election any American will ever vote in. Are you going to stay home if Trump is the nominee because he's not conservative enough? Are you going to sanction eight more years of Obama? If you do, we're done.

Cruz has more than anyone— anyone— successfully defended the Constitution of the United States.

We know that primarily in his multiple roles at the Supreme Court.

We also know that from his successful election to the Senate and his successful filibuster that lead to further conservative election successes because of that shutdown.

Cruz is much more opposed by the Republican establishment than Trump.

Cruz seeks a long term politically active strategy to restore constitutional limits to the Federal Government.

Trump seeks to overcome the abuses of the Federal government through the force of his personality.

I actually think his personality is powerful and significant. I do not think it can change DC in the way that it necessarily must be changed.

I also do not trust trump to in his own words make deals with Republicans and Democrats which hurt the middle class and average americans.

I also do not want to continue down the road started by our current megalomaniac— President Obama. He also rules by cult of personality. Though Trump might help conservatives with his cult of personality— he will establish and maintain the anti-consituttional premise that a hyper strong executive is necessary to undue political damage.

Those of you bashing Cruz unfairly simply so you can accelerate a Trump win, are honestly endangering our Republic.

Its sad to see this personal attacks against Cruz and his family that so resemble the hateful things done to Palin in 2008.

I hope the Trump supporters will re-consider.

Cruz is my choice and I strongly support his candidacy.

I’m sorry. Nice rant.
I want America great again.
Just not going with someone who sounds, acts, and conducts himself as a Washington insider. Which he is.

Agreed. I like Trump, but I think the DNC/GOPe uniparty's long game is consolidation of power and a Trump presidency will play into that hand.

The Clinton Crime Family will wait until he's nominated.

And you and I can bet that after the first barrage from the crime family that Trump will have the crushing blow for the queen and her womanizer husband. Trump will already have the ammo are you can be sure it will bury Hillary.

I agree with a lot of Cruz's stated policies. My main fear of him is that, if elected, the race war the Current Occupant of the White House is trying to start will be replaced with a religious war. What is going on right now on Free Republic is a microcosm of this.

Are you seriously suggesting that Donald Trump is the AntiChrist?

Kooky weird sh*t like that has caused the Republican party to get it's ass kicked for 25 years.

The weirdo church crowd combined with the GOP elite has CAUSED Donald Trump.

I’ve found this to be true in my own life & you probably have, too. Ya get in a groove & as long as nothing bogs you down or stalls things, it’s pretty easy to stay super productive. Then other times, a rut can happen & it takes discipline & strength to dig out. I think Trump just has an exceptional amount of discipline & strength. I wish he could bottle it & sell it. I’d buy some!

(I probably oversimplified it)

Ethanol/smethanol. I think many, many people are like me. We have illegals just walking across the border. We have Islamic whack jobs being invited into the country by Zero and his corrupt regime. We have a GOP in Washington (including Cruz) that has done nothing to stop this (maybe he wanted to, maybe he tried, but bottom line, he didn't.)

I could care less if we pay IA farmers to grow pistachios and pineapples as long as we close the border and stop the Muslim influx. Then I'll worry about who a "principled conservative" is.

Thanks for the chuckle. I am assuming you were laughing as you wrote it. I don’t know about Cruz himself other than reuniting with his partner Glenn Beck so they can hand out more stuffed animals and soccer balls to illegal invaders as they cross the border... he seems like he is holding it together despite some major setbacks. Unfortunately, if his groupies on this forum appear to be going through the various stages of grief and it is a little embarrassing. Most of them are still stuck in Shock/Denial through Anger/Bargaining... if you buy into that type of thing.

In the case of corn subsidies the special interest is the Iowa voter, which Trump needs instead of money donors. The rest of the field needs both.

I think I would vote for any RNC nominee including Trump.

But I definitely want the Trump supporters to know this is not infinite.

I do think if things continue going along the lines of Cruz is worse than Hillary then, no.

This boundless reactionary personality that seems to lose focus anytime a democrat or moderate republican comes into focus is getting increasingly suspicious to me.

Trump’s primary skill thus far seems to be in taking down conservatives running for President. Its not terribly impressive to me.

... a partial truth that functions the same as a lie.

Amusingly ironic in relationship to your tagline.

Nicely done, Art.

Ok, I’ll vote for Trump on one condition. The next time I am in Idaho, you have to take me fishing for Lake Trout. ;>)

I have supported Cruz from the start....I still love him, but a couple days ago I converted to Trump. You captured much of what I considered when I decided to back Trump.

We simply MUST win or it’s all over.
