Back in 2011 at a Tea Party Rally, when asked about George Soros, did Donald Trump really say:
Forget Soros. Leave him alone. He's got enough problems. What about Soros, let's talk about somebody else, sweetheartAnswer: yes.
I saw the quote attributed to Trump, but with no details. I wondered if it were true.
It's true. The audio is at the link. Glenn Beck played it in 2011.
There are many.

Big names back Trump tower
Soros, Deutsche Bank said to be in on 90-story building
Donald Trump has lined up three New York hedge funds, including money from billionaire George Soros, to invest $160 million in his Chicago skyscraper, a key piece in perhaps the largest construction financing in the city’s history, according to real estate sources and public documents.

And Free Republic has been a great source. Posts I missed the first time around.

Pay attention to post five in that one.
This is just tip of the iceberg stuff.
Why do you Trumpateers assume that just because we don’t blindly follow Trump we blindly follow Cruz?
“Trump is the ONLY candidate not owned by amnesty supporting PACs”
What do you think of Soros?
Projection?
So if you aren’t for Cruz, do you have any names to mock Cruz suoporters?
You seems to mock only Trump supporters with your “trumpateer”.
>>Why do you Trumpateers assume that just because we donât blindly follow Trump we blindly follow Cruz?
Because you assume that we blindly follow Trump. I was on the Cruz wagon 100% until I did some research on Trump and listened to Cruz. I knew that Cruz does not have what it takes to defeat the Hillary machine and the media just as he has failed to make an impact in the senate.
His principles are great. He should be a pastor or something like that where he could make a difference in a small scale. But he is not the leader of a nation in serious trouble. He is not the guy to lead a nation away from a path that seems easy but ends at a cliff. But if someone who can lead started us down the right path, then he would be the right man to get in front of the parade and move it forward. He needs Trump and then we’ll need Cruz later.
This is wild speculation on my part. But it popped into my noggin when I read this.
What if Soros is “paying Trump to play” at being the Republican candidate to draw off votes from the other Presidential wannabes so that the party is split into various factions. Some factions refuse to vote for Trump, which gives the majority of general votes and electoral votes for Hitlery? As far-fetched as it sounds, what if it is true?
We can pretty well give up on the Republcrat party after that.
Why do you Trumpateers assume that just because we donât blindly follow Trump we blindly follow Cruz?....I don’t they think that way. They know you want Hillary.
Maybe Soros can read us his favorite passage from the Torah?
“So if you arent for Cruz, do you have any names to mock Cruz suoporters?
You seems to mock only Trump supporters with your âtrumpateer.”
I support Cruz.
I don't believe he shouldn't be questioned and I don't make excuses for some of his less than conservative votes like the Trumpanistas seem to eagerly make for the Donald who is way, way less a conservative than probably Jebbie The Trumperinos sound closer to the BHO "hope and change" followers than any other candidates

“I donât they think that way. They know you want Hillary.”
Because I’m not backing a guy who gave to her campaign and praised her I want Hillary.
Twisted logic
So your principal reason for backing Trump is fear of Hillary? Really?
My dog could beat Hillary. She's toast. If she isn't indicted by Xero's Department of "Justice" before the election I'll be stunned. He hates her guts.
The Donald has been in bed with just about every bad actor on the DemoRAT/Progressive/Communist scene.
Definitely high level stuff going on in the background.
Unfortunately, as with the big 0, they are taking us with them...

I see what you’re saying but here’s my take. I believe Trump will get elected if nominated. I also believe he will start to abandon many of the conservative promises. When that happens, I see the same people who are supporting him either, turning on him, or still supporting him out of obligation. If he goes in and still allows illegal immigration, signs onto deficit spending, gets us into a Middle East war, and expands the size of the government, then we will end up with Democrat in power again and you can forget about fixing anything for a while.
I hope he proves me wrong. I really do. I hope he makes those of us who opposed him look like the idiots
I was feeling pretty good about Trump and Cruz and how this election was shaping up. I figured it would be Trump winning with Cruz second, which would be a huge blow to the GOPe. I was looking forward to a Trump Cruz ticket with Trump as 45 and Cruz 46. I thought Trump had the best chance to win the general, so it was all working out great.
I didn’t like how Trump went against Carson. But it didn’t shake my confidence.
But when Trump began attacking Cruz from the left, impugning his conservatism and integrity, and then when the GOPe began to say good things about him, the people who had been calling him a joke and a clown, and then the media began treating him nice, I said whoa!
Then I saw a post here about Soros bankrolling Trump Tower in Chicago, the one Sarah Palin mentioned in her endorsement speech.
I looked some things up and found that the Trump Soros association is real. It wasn’t hard to find.
Whatever anyone wants to think, it is real. And if Cruz is owned by Goldman Sachs, the same logic says Trump is even more owned by Soros.
People can make up their own minds.
Regarding Democratic and Republican party cheating on Conservatives -
Best illustration I’ve seen.
Thanks for posting it!
That sounded (to me) more like a dismissal than a defense.
“Maybe Soros can read us his favorite passage from the Torah?”
My guess it will be the One Commandment:
You shall have no other gods before Me
