“Because you assume that we blindly follow Trump. I was on the Cruz wagon 100% until I did some research on Trump and listened to Cruz. I knew that Cruz does not have what it takes to defeat the Hillary machine and the media just as he has failed to make an impact in the senate.

His principles are great. He should be a pastor or something like that where he could make a difference in a small scale. But he is not the leader of a nation in serious trouble. He is not the guy to lead a nation away from a path that seems easy but ends at a cliff. But if someone who can lead started us down the right path, then he would be the right man to get in front of the parade and move it forward. He needs Trump and then we’ll need Cruz later.”

I see what you’re saying but here’s my take. I believe Trump will get elected if nominated. I also believe he will start to abandon many of the conservative promises. When that happens, I see the same people who are supporting him either, turning on him, or still supporting him out of obligation. If he goes in and still allows illegal immigration, signs onto deficit spending, gets us into a Middle East war, and expands the size of the government, then we will end up with Democrat in power again and you can forget about fixing anything for a while.

I hope he proves me wrong. I really do. I hope he makes those of us who opposed him look like the idiots

That’s the risk we take with anyone. Even the most principled guy can decide to govern with pragmatism so that he can get something done. We call them RINOS and we hate them for good reason. But the fact is that many of these RINOS are just poor leaders, so they have to compromise to do anything. We’ve seen it time and time again.

The only guy who had to gravitas to lead without compromise was Reagan. I support Trump for his ability to lead and to win in deals where everyone got something, but he got the most. I just can’t see Cruz being able to move a nation that is polarized to the extent that we are and the polarization is almost a perfect 50/50.

The 50/50 split is the result of 25 years of careful partisanship by the Uniparty to insure that neither party ever gains enough power to appear strong enough to accomplish anything. The Dems can promise socialism and fail to deliver just as the GOP can promise laissaiz-faire capitalism and fail to deliver. It makes it impossible for a principled outsider who lacks the leadership skills to move mountains to accomplish anything.

I’m not blindly following Trump for his cool hat. This is my well thought out position on the subject.
