Why 2016 GOP Campaign Is over -- Donald Trump Has Won
The Biz Coach ^ | Jan. 17, 2016 | Terry Corbell

Posted on 01/20/2016 1:09:18 PM PST by xzins

At a store recently, I overheard a middle-aged woman shouting on her cell phone while marching down an aisle.

The woman exclaimed: "Forget about that! Trump will get in there and clean the place out!'

It gave me my biggest laugh of the week. I had no idea what the woman and the other person were discussing, but I wasn't surprised by her assertion.

Polls show many Americans are angry and frustrated - from their skyrocketing health insurance premiums and their inability to keep their doctors under ObamaCare - to stagnant wages, the $19-trillion federal debt, immigration and terrorism, and other dysfunctional foreign policies.

So as I thought about the humorous store incident, other developments and historical events, I started thinking about the 2016 presidential election.

My conclusion: The Republican race is over - if the establishment Republicans wake up and smell the coffee - and accept that Donald Trump holds the only ticket to success. Further, he has already won the election.

"What?' you incredulously ask.

Agreed, Mr. Trump has been crass.

However, this also means he won't suffer the same fate as former Gov. Mitt Romney, an astute businessman, but too tepid in responding to disingenuous political attacks. Although leading President Barack Obama by 5 percentage points in the June 2012 polls, Mr. Romney lost because he failed to respond to any attacks that summer.

Mr. Romney was ostensibly defensive about his wealth. Not Mr. Trump. He sees it as a marketing strength and is known for his acerbic responses to political attacks. He crushes his opponents.

With the overwhelming problems facing the U.S. and world, the campaigns demonstrate a lot of voters would rather cope with occasional dubious behavior from a patriotic American than a demagogic socialist as president.

They feel any of the Republican candidates would be preferable over Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sec. Hillary Clinton or any other Democrat should she be indicted.

But not necessarily in an order of priorities, here are the eight things that have led to my sense of Mr. Trump's odds for success:

1. Mr. Trump has softened his sarcasm. Notice he hasn't been sarcastic lately with insane, personal attacks. In some ways, he's softened his tone.

2. Only Mr. Trump understands retail marketing. He's employing classic marketing principles:

A) His campaign slogan is in the proven range of three to five words, "Make America Great Again!' Contrast that with his competitors - none has positive, memorable slogans.

B) He repeats his slogan often. For effective messaging in the 21st century, a frequency rate of five times is needed to persuade the average American.

Unlike Senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, for example, Mr. Trump knows not to claim he's the "best Conservative.' He's more influential by his promoting a patriotic image than it is to proclaim he's the only candidate who can wear the label of "best Conservative.'

His rhetoric most-effectively addresses the angry emotions of most Americans. He anticipated they'd like the idea of a temporary ban on immigrants from Islamic countries to sort things out.

Also, Mr. Trump realizes he has to attract a like-minded pool of voters over economic and national-security issues. Friends have told me their liberal friends from New York to California will secretly vote for a Trump ticket.

It's also been widely reported that he under polls because respondents to pollsters don't always tell the truth about whom they support.

Pretty much sums up my theory that Trump is the nominee and likely next President. Can’t happen soon enough to suit me.

I have not heard Rush this week but I think you nailed those four points about that candidate. For me personally, I am also just as repelled by his overworked, dramatic vocalizations as I am by Palin's undisciplined yokelism in speech, which is tragic in both their cases. A man who would never dream of wearing a polyester leisure suit to appear before the Supreme Court nevertheless retains a self-consciously, adolescently oratorial way of speaking that conveys a lack of confidence masquerading as a lack of sincerity, or even of humility. A woman who would never dream of sitting in the Oval Office without having bathed in months nevertheless takes pride in a down-home accent and nails-on-the-blackboard tonal range with a broken delivery. It's a terrible waste of their talents to hide them under those particular bushel baskets.

Margaret Thatcher, when she realized her role would be on the national stage, took elocution lessons, trained her voice lower than the typical English middle-class matron's nasal falsetto, had her hair and her clothing redesigned so that her image would better elicit the public's acceptance of her as a leader, and to signal authority to the male leaders with whom she would have to contend and over whom she would have to predominate. In a media age, these refinements show that you're not just all about yourself; you will meet others halfway for the sake of getting things done.

You are darn right about Thatcher. She learned to speak slower as well.

All week he has been struggling with explaining the conservatives gravitation to Trump.

How about Bob Dylan's " When you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose".Sarah in her campaign speech explains that in the attempt to send conservatives to Congress we get full funding of Stupidcare and funding of Planned Parenthood. There's no big mystery. we're sick of money grubbing fricking conservative Obama boot licking scum traitors.

When I found out that Cruzty the clown's wife was a big shot in Goldman, I knew there was a problem. None of this has to rise to the level of explication of Kant's impenetrable philosophy. Regular people are sick of the phony bull crap and Trump is what you get when there's nothing left to lose. He has created the new paradigm without us knowing exactly what it is. Maybe it will be worse then the current rule by Orcs and trolls but I doubt it.

Great thing about Thatcher, she didn’t ride her husband’s coattails. SHE did it, not him.

Writing a book for Regnery on the Politically Incorrect Guide to the Presidents up to Taft, and some of the guys we don’t hear much about-—Monroe-—were some of the best. (Although Monroe was absolutely an “insider” and a “machine” candidate, that’s for sure).

Great little opus there. Worthy of front-page vanity post.
Really great insight. Thanks. Glad I stumbled across it.

Cruz should have just kept his mouth shut. Cruz now has Dopey campaigning with him. Poking a success like Trump, a with supercharged high-energy guy who built an empire, sliced and diced Cruz.

He didn’t get the memo, Americans don’t want lawyers turned politicians to lead American out of this disaster. They’ve done enough GD damage. We want a leader who will start putting America FIRST. We have not seen that for many decades.

My granddaughter’s mother is in her early 30s and is apolitical but her new hipster BF likes Sanders, although he realizes he has no chance of winning. He totally surprised me when he said he’s leaning toward Trump, mainly because he’s beholden to no one. Trump is definitely not like Romney.

I’m so sick of lawyers running the country, especially since the ones in charge have driven us into the proverbial ditch. How bad could Trump be at this point? He’s beholden to no one and his campaign isn’t dependent on PAC money. He isn’t owned by Wall Street either, and his wife never worked for a Wall Street firm like Heidi Cruz, which makes me nervous.

I like Cruz but he’s been denigrated by the media for the last 3 years, and now it’s too late to rehabilitate his image for the typical uninformed voter.

Americans want stuff done and are tired of a candidate who is ideologically driven but has zero skills in getting stuff done.

That makes more sense than all of the talking heads on Fox.

I haven’t been listening to Rush, but I agree with every point you’ve made and that’s why I’m voting for Trump.

I’m not going to be influenced by whoever chooses to endorse him and I’m not going to be swayed by whoever rips him.

If that makes you believe I can no longer consider myself a conservative then so be it.

I believe he’s our last chance to pull America out of this death spiral we’re in. If he can’t do it, then I’m willing to go down with him.

Trump supports 2rd amendment—member of NRA—he has a gun and packs heat himself. Trump isn’t a Liberal in Conservative clothes. Give it a break Beck!

Well said LS, once again you’ve nailed all the points, as matter of fact I can’t add anything to it.

I think there are a LOT of traditional conservatives who feel like this.

I know what you mean...I can count on one hand how many times I have watched or listened to Hannity in the last 5 years. I heard him say he was going to have Newt on so I tuned in to hear what Newt had to say.
