GOP presidential candidate former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum says that fellow GOP candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is "misinforming the public" about him being a "natural born" citizen and eligible to run for President of the United States.

The Des Moines Register's politics reporter Jennifer Jacobs posted on Twitter:

Ted Cruz is "misinforming the public" by saying "natural born" issue is "settled law," Rick Santorum says in Iowa. Supreme Court must rule. -Jennifer Jacobs (@JenniferJJacobs) January 13, 2016

Nothing is settled law when Democrats are intent on retaining power. That’s the whole point.

The Law on Settled Law: nothing is settled until it is settled the way the liberals want it settled, and then it is settled and cannot be changed, until the liberals decide that they want it changed, and then it can be changed.

Santorum, Huckabee, Paul, Fiorina, and of course Trump questioning Teddy. Starting to add up.

Why is that every time a wannabbee says something that doesn't promote Cruz's agenda, we get sophomoric insults on the person's integrity etc, instead of a substantive discussion of the issue?

Here's my thought. A good debater will discuss the topic at hand if they know they can win the discussion. If they know they can't win, they pull cute tricks like trying to discuss and marginalize the person presenting the argument. It's childish and really annoying. And not helping your guy.

There are leaks in the "settled law" narrative. Reminds of "settled science" global warming.

Santorum is moving in the right direction. My quibble is that the law isn't unsttled, it's settled. Cruz should quit before he gets fired.

So talking about the issues and positions didn’t work for the Trump bots so they are going for broke with this nonsense.

Precisely. Look how they went after McQueeg even though that one was pretty clear in his favor. Cruz is less clear so you know they will go after him with both barrels.

IMHO Trump is actually doing Cruz a favor in getting this thing settled once and for all. This includes other candidates down the road.

Hardly an equal comparison, unless you consider apples to be the same as oranges.

Before 2007 I thought it was settled law, I thought everyone knew what natural born citizen meant. Born here of citizen parents, could not possibly be anything other than a US citizen.

The new definition that applied to Obama and Ted figures should apply to him is simply, born a citizen.
That makes every anchor baby and Winston Churchill eligible.
The courts do not want to touch this because they will be exposed as having allowed an usurper into office.

They do it because the Cruz campaign is doing. Trump is a NY Liberal. See what he said 17 years ago, blah, blah, blah.

It's not nonsense, unless you find the constitution and the identity of a nation to be nonsense.

Trump isn't the cause of this issue. Cruz is. Don't shoot the messenger.
