Americans' civic knowledge continues to be abysmal, finds a new report by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA). "Survey after survey shows that recent college graduates are alarmingly ignorant of America's history and heritage," the authors note, and federal civics testing has not improved the situation.
Among the more disheartening findings of this analysis:
How do Americans amend the Constitution? More than half of college graduates didn't know. Almost 60% of college graduates failed to identify correctly a requirement for ratifying a constitutional amendment.
We live in a dangerous world - but almost 40% of college graduates didn't know that Congress has the power to declare war.
And 9.6% of college graduates marked that Judith Sheindlin - "Judge Judy" was on the Supreme Court!

I love it when reporters ask college students history or civics questions. The answers are often hilarious, if not disturbing. I’ll bet half don’t know the decade the Civil War was fought. I’ve even hear 1950’s from a few of these drones.
Only 1 in 10. I’d have thought it would have been more like 4 or 5 in 10.
She’d actually be better then all of them. She is a tough one. I bet she could be convincing too and be very much for the constitution.
I’d like to see reporters being asked questions about history and civics. I think the results would be very revealing.
When you’re busy studying such courses as “Zombies in popular media, What if Harry Potter were real, The Joy of garbage, Juggling, How to watch Television, The Sociology of Miley Cyrus” ( all actual College courses) you don’t have time for all this Constitutional mumbo jumbo.

In one survey I read about in the 90s, a crop of the “educated” were asked to name Civil War battles. Among the answers: Little Big Horn and World War 2!

Water’s World on Fox has proven that the world’s worst informed young people go to our most expensive universities. They can’t identify pictures of Joe Biden! This is what our bloated, Leftist educational system produces for our tax dollars.
Just in case you think there is a chance this nation will endure along comes some bit of info like this. 1 in 10 folks of college students is a huge number of supposed informed smart individuals. It also seems representative of the bottom number, probably much high, of individuals who should not be getting into college and or borrowing money for it.
