Donald Trump Claiming Credit For Iran Prisoner Release Is Insane
Redstate ^ | 1/1716 | streiff

Earlier today, my colleague Leon Wolf, commented on the authoritarian tendencies of the most devoted Trump supporters. Now we have evidence of the megalomania that feeds the authoritarian response.

Republican primary front-runner Donald Trump on Saturday said his rhetoric condemning the Iranian regime played an integral part in securing the release of four U.S. prisoners.

“So I’ve been hitting them hard, and I think I might have had something to do with it,” Trump said at the South Carolina Tea Party Convention in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

“You want to know the truth, who’s using it? It’s a part of my staple thing. I mean, I go crazy when I hear about this,” he added.

“They’re in one of the worst prisons in the world, and we had to do something, so I’d always talk about it.”

This is ludicrous.

First off, virtually every utterance of Donald Trump has been covered by the news media. There may be some glottal stops and coughs that weren’t transcribed but those would be damned few. If you go to Google and search for articles containing “Donald Trump” and “Jason Rezaian”* you get 0 freakin hits between July 1, 2015 and January 10, 2016. In fact, the first time the names appear in the same article is when Trump is complaining about the deal (by the way, I’m glad those men are out of Iran, but there are two additional Americans still in prison there, and the deal was a horrible kowtowing to Iran by the administration). If you go to a broader search, and use “iran” and “prisoners” you find that Trump has mentioned them twice. Once at a rally in July and again in September.

One fact Trump can claim to his credit 100% is that in every single rally speech and interview Trump talked about the hostages and he never let up.

Not one single candidate not even Cruz gave a damn to mention them. I’ll bet that the families of those hostages are eternally grateful to Trump for caring enough about the hostages to mention them over and over again tirelessly.

In this regard the credit goes to Trump 100%.

.

Donald Trump and Ted Cruz both deserve credit for forcing the moslem bastard Obama to get the four Americans released from Iran ...

The issue was becoming toxic-lethal for both Hillary! and Joe Biden ...

I suspect that Trump was already making TV ads featuring the hostagess’ families ...

Incorrect.

Let's stay civil, especially with facts.

“Megalomania” or “narcissism” or .....pride

as one like , is NOT BAD when it’s for the Best .

We have to consider and understand that libtards pretend they are the embodiment of the Good and Justice .
It’s a kind of ( fake ) religion for them !
Saying the contrary is a quasi blasphemy .

Anyway it’s absolutly sensible to say that the US elections have ALREADY an impact and consequences in the world

Wait... Wasn't it not so long ago, that the policy of the U.S. was to never negotiate with terrorist or hostage takers? You know the idea... How this sets up the incentive to take hostages whenever a bad actor needs leverage on the U.S.. And by extension puts all of our service members and citizens abroad at risk...

Cruz - while giving thanks for the hostages return - was critical of the deal for this very reason. Where was the Donald on this aspect? Just asking?

We already know the details. Obama and this government made a terrible planet changing deal with Iranians, giving them what they want and then paying them billions, and the hostages were not part of the deal.

Trump jumps in the political ring and DAILY tells the American people it’s a terrible dangerous deal which were paying them billions for and hostages were not included in the deal.

Of course Trump had a major impact here regarding the hostages.

... Sullying the man’s image about sullying the man’s image.

*sigh*
Trump has NOTHING in common with Reagan except both are/were male.
Reagan never trashed/bullied/talked about how great he was for a second. He was a scholar, if you never heard of the mounds of conservative writings he left behind. Trump doesn’t even know basic civics.

I think that Donald Trump strongly implied that he would enthusiastically kick Iran’s ass for this ...

Yeah, and he did that repeatedly.

Of course Trump had a major impact on their release.

I think it had an effect. Combined with the payment being due to them this weekend. If they had sent the money and not gotten the prisoners back, Trump would have a field day. His instruction on this issue would have gone up quite a few notches.

He might be having the prisoners appear with him in Ames tomorrow to capitalize on his contribution without having to just stand there and claim that he helped. Smart, if so.

Would have been wiser to say that Iran was taking the election into consideration and doing all it could to benefit from the Islamist supporting current administration.

Sorry, but Trump mentioned those hostages every opportunity he had. Cruz did not! Facts can be very inconvenient!

Talk about question-begging (drawing conclusions from unsupported assumptions) this one takes the cake. Trump has broad support because there is some cause to believe that he will assert control of the federal bureaucracy, not the citizens.

Just like illegal immigration would not be an issue without Trump’s bring it up; asking for something for the 150 billion the bastards are getting wouldn’t have happened so get used to it. Man up and admit the Democrats HAD to get something back or Trump would be proved right once again.
