Wasn't it not so long ago, that the policy of the U.S. was to never negotiate with terrorist or hostage takers? You know the idea... How this sets up the incentive to take hostages whenever a bad actor needs leverage on the U.S.. And by extension puts all of our service members and citizens abroad at risk...
