Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is slamming Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz for attacking “New York values" and praising GOP rival Donald Trump for defending his home state.
"I'm a Democrat, but Donald Trump did a very good job defending New York," Schumer told host John Catsimatidis on "The Cats Roundtable" on New York's AM-970 on Sunday.
"I'd like Ted Cruz to go talk about New York values to the firefighters who rushed to the towers on 9/11, and the police and EMTs, to the brave New York police officers who keep our streets safe," he added.
Schumer also noted that Cruz's wife worked for Goldman Sachs.
"Maybe he wants to go to Wall Street and talk about New York values, you know, where his wife worked," Schumer said.
After Cruz attacked Trump this week for representing "New York values," Trump defended himself at Thursday's GOP presidential debate by invoking the city's response to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
"I think [Cruz] hurt himself and he deserved to, and Trump, gotta give him credit, was right on the money in his response," Schumer said.
Schumer also referred to a New York Daily News front page showing the Statue of Liberty giving Cruz the middle finger.
"He will be now forever on the front page of the Daily News memorialized, because they had the Statue of Liberty, and she made a gesture in Cruz's direction," Schumer said.
As for the Senate, Schumer touted the body's bipartisan work in December, including passage of a transportation bill. Schumer said the work would be a sign of a productive year ahead.
"I think things are going to be a little better in the next 12 months," he said.
Trump will beat Hillary it to a wet spot of creosote.
Cruz was sputtering this morning on Fox News about his vote on immigration - blaming underlings who misled him. He also blamed underlings for not disclosing his loans to the SEC. Something really wrong here...
Never thought I would ever agree with Schumer but in this case I do.
The point was that he didn't. He pointed out that despite the most horrific terrorist attack on American soil NYers showed they were not victims. They got up and dealt with it with courage and dignity. A few of the liberal types tried to get big payouts; there are always a few losers to add a sour note.
NY pays its way. NY send lots more to the Feds in taxes than they get in benefits and there are whole swaths of the Nation where the reverse is the case.
We are going to move them out and then move them right back in and make them legal.
Either we believe the man or we don’t. 11m legal immigrants, some might call that amnesty.
And they got lots of payments. Congress bent all the way over.
He is finished....he should never have brought Trump’s mom into any debate...Trump has taken his gloves off and there is no stopping him now...

Trump has no moral compass. Typical junior high popularity contest-oriented New Yorker.
What I didn’t like about that remark is that Cruz has no gift for humor. He started on his little pre-planned “assault” and dragged it out so long that my husband and I chimed in “And Donald’s mother was born in Scotland!” while he was still on Rubio. If Trump had done that, he would have had the audience in the palm of his hand. Mr. Cruz: drop the jokes, you can’t tell them.
Yeah, watch Trump destroy the conservative movement. If he is ever elected, he will move so far left so fast it will make your head spin. Trump is all about Trump, period. If being a communist dictator was good for Trump, that is what he would be. Period.

Listen closely to what Trump is actually proposing. In an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash earlier this year, Trump explained his plan this way:
I would get people out and then have an expedited way of getting them back into the country so they can be legal…. A lot of these people are helping us … and sometimes it’s jobs a citizen of the United States doesn’t want to do. I want to move ’em out, and we’re going to move ’em back in and let them be legal
there you have it, “the Donald” and his amnesty plan “ we are going to move em out and we’re going to move em back in and let them be legal”

Yes, and even if he acts like a moderate (probably the best case scenario of him as President), and puts in another Sotomayor or Kagen or Ginsberg or even a Breyer (probably the best case scenario), we are screwed for a generation.. and probably forever.

Not surprising you didn't get it. You had trouble understanding simple logic previously.
If most people in NY, and it absolutely is most, if not damn near everyone there today, can't even do that minimum yet important thing for their fellow citizens of the city, particularly in a dangerously overcrowded like NY, they are very unlikely of doing anything more substantial. How difficult is it to simply motion to a driver you're walking directly in front of at a crosswalk that their lights are off. Or are you one of those self-centered creeps that just doesn't give a crap about anyone else? No need to answer. You obviously are.
Yet they are who dominate the city in so many ways.
Just say no to Shuemers Bloombergs and Trumps.
Schumer is one of the first things I think about when I think about depraved values. He represents the hearts of a majority of NY’ers. And he represents Evil.
