Police used a water cannon and pepper spray during a demonstration of so-called anti-Islamist movement PEGIDA in Cologne, Saturday. Several arrests were reported on the site.

@Fairenough I was there. After 500m the march was stopped by the police. After several minutes people demanding to continue the police used violent force to push the demonstrators back. This was the moment where a few bottles and crackers were thrown. One of the guys who threw a cracker was a journalists quickly hiding behind police lines (see video where people confronted police with it). So the police produced the pictures the government wants to see in the media. Also a leftist group claimed they infiltrated the protesters and started the trouble to get the march stopped (see picture).
