have to play devil’s advocate, or Trump’s advocate lol.

500 percent is a HUGE h1b increase. I understand that he did at an addendum to a bill on amnesty to show the hypocrisy of not letting that pass but letting 10 million uneducated unvetted people into the country. Is that true?

didn’t he vote for TPP?

and I have heard him say he will deal with protecting the borders the deal with the illegals or perhaps legal status for some. and that was kind of recently.

just don’t want to be stymied as I am not a good debater.

I like the guy, trump, but it’s amazing the faith put in a guy who until 8 months ago sounded very much like a democrat.

if he wins, I hope he really means everything he says. don’t want another FDR.

No it isn’t. The answer is right within this thread, but you can’t see it. Not because youn can’t, but because your mind is on a candidate only and not on the reason that really baffles you.

What the idiot writer misses is that while for twenty years from FDR to Ike, Dems were in control of the presidency and Congress, most Americans shared the same social values. My parents were strong Dems, but scorned all the social crapola of today's libs. Most Dems were social conservatives. And communism/socialism was a dirty word

That changed during the seventies. Dems not only shed their social conservatism, they embarked on a leftist agenda to "transform the country" as our esteemed royal person King Barack stated openly.

When you have the likes of Bill Kristol — a classic arm-chair general wearing the mantle of Conservative leadership — you can be sure there will be a collapse.

“When the tea party fizzled...”

Obviously the tea party has not fizzled. The GOPe failed to co-opt it and that effort fizzled. Same with liberaltarians. We are leaderless.

Just stick to your guns, you’ll do fine.

No, he didn’t vote for TPP (fact is, the bill hasn’t come up yet, but he’s said that he’ll vote against it)

Go to his site and read his immigration plank— no legalization or increase in visas.

If you haven’t read it, take a look at this article (it’s long). But, this might answer your question as to whether or not he can be trusted-—

Yes. And the Post Turtle Himself said that neither Cruz or Trump would be allowed to be the GOP Nominee, and that no one they disapproved of would be “allowed to be nominated to the Senate”.

So much for the idea of a Representative Republic per the GOP Senate ruler.

Agree. IMO, the fall of the USSR nailed us. With the USSR, we never elect a draft dodging Bill Clinton- it was downhill from there.

The fall of the USSR meant that we had lost our raison d'etre. What would the US stand for now? This country has done a piss poor job of defining its' place in the world since the fall of the USSR.

So touching to know that USNews is very concerned about the future of the conservative movement.

His supporters, privileged yet failing, are in search of a man on horseback.

Is this really the "establishment" view of Trump's base?

Can these guys ever get anything right?

If this is really, truly their thought process on the shape of American politics circa 2016, leave them alone, and let them indulge.

Apparently, this is going to be the tsunami we have all been waiting for.

Just lay low, and when the time comes, vote for the Donald.

They've laid it on us without our consent, so now we're going to return the favor. I, for one, am really looking forward to it!

Mitch McC did say in 1984 that he was a John Sherman Cooper Republican, but conservative Kentuckians rallied to him anyway.

I believe there really is two America’s. Us, the patriotic conservatives who believe in this country and them who are lazy takers who want the government to take whatever they want from us and give it to them. I would like the country physically divided, let them have the West Coast, Northeast Coast, and let us have the rest. In less than five years they will be begging to become part of our county because they will have no one to take from. We conservative have been letting the lazy democrats suckle on us too long.

Everyone in the Republican Party and numerous pundits have been discribedas conservative and what we are finding is that there are few who walk the talk.
