Rats, bugs and ‘natural’ deaths at nation’s largest women’s prison (boo hoo)

Yvonne McBride was a physically healthy 26-year-old woman when she entered Lowell Correctional Institution for women June 20, 2013.

The Florida Department of Corrections noted in its exam of McBride that, other than a bout of constipation and a history of depression, she was in good health. She had no fever, no cough, no chest pain or breathing problems. Her lungs and chest were clear, her heart was normal, her FDC medical records show.

But a month and four days later, McBride was dead.

The Miami Herald is continuously running stories about abuse and deaths allegedly at the hands of prion guards. (In both men's and women's prisons.) I am very tired of it. If they didn't want to face violence or death at the hands of prison guards, they should not have committed armed robbery, arson, murder, a sex offense or whatever. I'm wondering if the newspaper has forgotten all about crime victims. The Herald used to only be whining about the deaths in men's prisons. Now they're whining about women's prisons too.

So, you say and think it is OK for prison guards to abuse and beat prisoners in their custody? How about police officers? Is it ok for them to abuse or kill suspects? I think you need to get a mirror out and take a close look at yourself.

If they didn't want to face violence or death at the hands of prison guards

99% of the time, they don't. It is other inmates who do the killings. I was in the joint for 25 years. It is usually suicide, drug OD, or other inmates. Death row inmates, are far more likely to die of old age in California. Too dang many liberals.

There's a profoundly sad truth too that, yet consider it one of the many trip wires strung between what we want to be and what the fascist left is turning us into.

The saddest part is over the last 7 years we've witnessed so many of the politically empowered abuse their position for personal gain, vendettas and attempts to criminalize the opposition.

Take this for example:

FEC Chair: Feds must help Americans make 'thoughtful' contributions

This coming from the chairman that wants to regulate political speech on the Internet. Even as far as using Drudgereport as an example of what needs to be regulated.

Wow, such compassion...prison should not be a cakewalk, but certainly, it should be a place you don’t fear for you life from the people who run your life...

....and certainly a place where the people who are in authority over you and control your every moment, that hold life and death in their hands are out of control...

I might add some of these prisoners are actually innocent, the legal system in this country and I might add Miami is corrupt to the core..people get railroaded all the time...

That’s a matter to be judged before God, the action of whom, with regard to all things including the devil, supersedes the plans of men. The legal system, for what it is worth, never imposed those other things in the penalty. They come, as it were, by accident or negligence.

We shouldn’t celebrate a government that takes it on itself to leave the norms that, at least, God has taught us. There are some things that can’t be helped, and others that can be. To shrink from addressing the latter isn’t justice at all; it’s chaos. We can’t find a solid root in the will of man; only caprice. Be careful when celebrating caprice upon those you hate, because it may not stay under the control you think you had it under.

A “love your enemy” God seems to be an inconvenience to us at times, but that’s because we’re viewing life through our way of planning things, not His way of planning things.

Maybe these really are the last warnings, however, before we all fall under government control. And these are the last pangs of “liberal” conscience concerning the world that they have been egging on, before they suddenly give in and the complaints give way to eerie silence.

It sometimes might seem a buzz to get all Islamic on trouble makers. But that is a far cry from what is commanded by God.

The fact that God uses evil as one factor to warn people towards goodness, doesn’t issue us a license to wallow in it, after all.

Notice I said one factor, not the sole factor, or even the most important factor. The bible stresses that God far prefers the way of kindness, and does not “willingly grieve the sons of men.” And “the kindness of God leads unto repentance.”

A diamond may look stunning against the background of a turd, but that is no reason to keep the turd around....

I believe that prisoners should be made to work and learn a trade. They need to pay back a certain amount for their lodging and boarding + the cost that went into putting them in prison. Beyond that, let them keep the earning. But, they should also learn a trade or something so that they can get out of prison and not go back into the criminal world.

You're most salient point to me was in your last post:

Be careful when celebrating caprice upon those you hate, because it may not stay under the control you think you had it under.

Caprice is a complicated word that overloads the sentence and burdens the reader (at least me).

Also, the original poster added the parenthetical expression when they should have used the brackets [] to interject a comment on somebody else's writing. Which is what I think you're really responding too.

Back on point, there are several idioms that have floated around for many years that sums up your most salient point, one of them being:

Do not take delight in the misfortune of others. Whether you believe in the Christian G*d or not, it weighs the soul down for a believer in a god or not.

Oppression creeps along the ground like fog at night, and we ourselves may wake up in rain the next morning.

Several years ago you would have had me wholeheartedly agreeing. Unfortunately a close family relative became ensnared in the legal system about 4 years ago. Youthful indiscretion that resulted in a light sentence of house arrest, but also years of probation in a county with a reputation for being hard asses. Long story short, many things that would be normal behavior for a college student (going to a bar with friends, going to a party where booze is served, being pulled over for speeding...) are technical probation violations that result in detainment for months while awaiting hearings in a county court system that prides itself on a 96% conviction rate (and one of the lowest actual crime rates in the country). So far 18 of the last 24 months in county jail waiting for hearings that keep getting pushed out by DAs, judges and POs collaborating to wear us down so we agree to a plea deal. He’s lucky, his family can afford a decent lawyer - there are others who cannot and get caught up in the system and can literally never get out. The probation officers and DAs know this. There are a lot of people who deserve to be in prison, but there are also a lot who don’t. We have the highest incarceration rate of any civilized western nation and the prison and probation system is a profitable business that feeds the beast, make no mistake about that.

One in twenty-five death row prisoners is likely innocent (check out the results of the Innocent Projects) and many, many innocents plead guilty. Also remember THE CORRUPT DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE.

Kaslin posted a thread by Limbaugh yesterday about the radical power in the executive branch.

“And not just in the Alinsky mold, and not just in the Reverend Wright mold, but I mean literally radical, radical. The most radical leftist Democrat ever elected to the White House and maybe by a long shot. And I was under the impression that people on our side understood the danger, the real danger to the country. And even now, after reading a review of Dinesh D’Souza’s book, I was shocked over the weekend. Barack Obama put Dinesh D’Souza in jail. All these people out there rip Trump for praising Putin and all this.”

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3375329/posts

“’Plea bargains have led many innocent people to take a deal,” Rakoff said. “People accused of crimes are often offered five years by prosecutors or face 20 to 30 years if they go to trial. ...The prosecutor has the information, he has all the chips ...and the defense lawyer has very, very little to work with. So it’s a system of prosecutor power and prosecutor discretion. I saw it in real life [as a criminal defense attorney], and I also know it in my work as a judge today.’” [how much for a lawyer? You have $20k in the bank?]

http://news.usc.edu/61662/why-innocent-people-plead-guilty/

So before you cry crocodile tears, we are now living under a fascist. True justice is not to be taken for granted when there is no truth. (read “Licensed to Lie”) Also remember that if they hack the election, hildabeast or barney will continue the fascist tradition and life as we know it will be like living in prison.

Why be so sarcastic about government healthcare when we all know what happened at the VA which is defended by the DOinJ? They all work for the same boss! Go to the big military websites and search for VA articles then read the comments.

Most people are not in jail for murder. What happened to an eye for an eye justice? Maybe reading the Torah will bring that back.

Feeding the beast at the lowest levels. Counties get money for every prisoner. Who pays the sheriff? Who pays the judges? Always follow the money trail. AND the mentally ill are now going to prison for keeping since the hospitals are full.

I think the officers did what they were suppose to do when they sent her to the medical unit multiple times. It’s not easy to separate the fakers from the inmates that are really sick. Some just want to take a trip to the hospital for a change of scenery or an escape attempt. The medical staff is ordered to only send out the inmates that need to be in a hospital. This woman’s symptoms seemed to advance quickly. I can’t blame anyone from what I can see.
