More often than not, in Gray's cases, prosecutors later dropped those charges. You see, in a community where public funds are directed mostly toward a certain type of policing and making arrests, a large portion of those cases can't stand up in court or produce the kind of evidence needed - especially when it comes to Baltimore juries that are increasingly unwilling to convict.

No justice, no peace.

The Washington Compost blames his environment for his criminality.

I blame himself and also his parents (”Like begets like” as my 7th grade science/genetics text said).

Since LBJ's "Great Society" began...

I do agree this is "whitey's fault" -- white Democrat liberal politicians fault.

It sounds like Gray and anyone else in that neighborhood is, literally, better off dead. Instead of cop trials there should be a raft of humanitarian awards...seriously.

Was he in the habit of eating lead paint chips?

Even if lead paint affected his brain tremendously, the fault still lies with his parents. A child would have to eat chips of paint to damage his brain. Poor housekeeping and lack of supervision are what hurt him.

My in-laws raised nine children, old house with (I’m sure) lead paint and they spent most of their lives below the poverty line. No welfare, a clean house and attentive parents, all children are now law abiding citizens.

“..And in the public housing units where Gray lived, lead-infused paint was peeling from the walls and the windowsills with such intensity that before his 2nd birthday, Gray tested positive for concentrations of lead in his blood more than seven times the level that child health experts now believe can cause severe and permanent brain damage....”
********************************************************************************
Note that Freddie lived in PUBLIC (as in Government owned and operated) HOUSING which had the lead paint peeling. The government that ran that public housing during Freddie’s life (and, actually, long before his birth) was ‘RAT government usually led by black mayors and black city counsels. So blame the ‘RATS, Washington Post — if you insist upon excusing Freddie’s criminality.

How many white kids (like me) grew up in older homes with lead paint? When I was growing up lead based paint was the norm.

Today, Gray's high school is what researchers at the University of California Los Angles have described as an "apartheid school," where in 2011 - the most recent comprehensive federal data available - less than 1 percent of the student body is white and 98.7 percent black.

Why is 99% black a bad thing and why is 99% white considered white privilege?

Most statistics show we spend as much or more on majority black schools.

As always, there are unspoken facts that can't be discussed.

So his mother couldn’t read, dropped out of school after the 8th grade and was a heroin user but it is the fault of failed government? She’s been handled since birth - free schooling she didn’t take advantage of, free housing and food yet she could find a way to purchase heroin.

Lead paint in house paint was phased out in 1960. Assuming the last of it was used up by 1965, this means that the only circumstances in which buildings more than 50 years old still have lead paint is if it was painted over, or if they are in a terrible state of disrepair.

Importantly, about the only way you can get the lead out of this paint is either by eating paint chips, or when it is sanded, to inhale a lot of dust. Otherwise, it is unlikely to be an issue, compared to leaded gasoline, which itself was phased out for automobiles in the mid-1970s. Though lead additive could be purchased for those engines, mostly lawnmowers, that needed it, for a time.

Nearly all homes built prior to the 1980s still have lead solder connecting copper pipes.

Some major U.S. cities still have 100 percent lead piping bringing water from the utilities to homes and businesses. The dissolved oxygen in the water combines with the metal at the surface (copper, zinc or lead) to form a metal oxide. This oxidation layer naturally develops through the decades to coat lead piping. When water conditions require it, water utilities also add lime or orthophosphates as a further barrier to prevent lead from getting into drinking water. When water chemistry is carefully controlled, it prevents dangerous levels of lead from entering the drinking water system from the pipes.

In 1995 the United States banned the use of lead solder on food cans. But lead solder can still be found on cans made in other countries. These cans usually have wide seams, and the silver-gray solder along the seams contains the lead. Cans containing lead may be brought to the United States and sold.

China finally banned the use of lead paint on toys and other items in 2007.

Gray's mother told lawyers collecting her testimony in a lead exposure civil lawsuit that, at the time her children were born, she could not read, had never attended high school and had begun using heroin in her early 20s (suggesting that she might have used drugs during her pregnancy)

But it wor da lead paint dat dose evil white peoples made my chil'uns eat dat were dey pro'lem.

Time fo' Momma to get paid!

We are committing politically correctly suicide, folks!!

“Lead Paint” is part of the dems game plan to move the people living in low cost housing in the inner cities to the suburbs.

This sob story actually had new information, for me at least. Gray was born 2 month premature, “possibly” due to the babymama’s HEROIN use. Huge public expense right out the gate. Then he is allowed to eat large quantities of lead-based paint, supposedly in his PUBLIC HOUSING (even though lead-based paint has been outlawed since the 1970’s and he was born in 1989. Hmm...). His school was deficient because it didn’t offer Advanced Placement courses (Hmm... he was in Special Ed, so why is AP relevant AP?). Lives off a “settlement” for eating lead-based paint. Therefore can’t think and has no impulse control, etc. Then, against all odds, he becomes a heroin user and dealer. Local juries refuse to convict even when the evidence is there, so the arrest/bail process becomes the default judicial system. Dysfunctional, but who’s at fault?
Freddie ends up dead at 25. Who would have guessed?

Yes, life’s deck was stacked against Freddie. Spending probably $1 million on him didn’t change things. But Ms. Ross thinks we just don’t spend enough public money on cases like his. How much would it take to make a difference? $100 million each for squads of tutors, minders, jesters, and wipers to live their entire lives for them? To what purpose? Heroin-wracked, lead-based brains aren’t going to get better.

You should follow what just happened in Flint Michigan. Their whole water supply was found to be heavily tainted with lead. They have a whole generation of kids that will be stupid their whole life because of this. And yes, it will definitely increase the crime rate.

Lead based paint my ass! We all lived with lead paint!

Freddie may have grown up behind the 8 ball, but it was because of a lot more than lead based paint. Ever see how black mama’s treat their chillrin out in public? What goes on behind closed doors?

Why you should know what happened in Freddie Gray’s life - long before his death (lead paint)

And in some way or fashion, because I was born to Caucasian parents and have white skin (proudly, I might add), this will somehow be my fault...and should be added to another of the "privileges" that I was granted as a result of my skin color.

I am fed up with that crap.

From being called a racist simply because I do not care for the music of Kanye West, to being told that I carry the burden of every slave holder from over 160 years ago, to the insistence from every "person of color" that I atone for my horrible fault of being white...ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

I do not care.

I revel in my whiteness...I embrace it.

What I will not do is apologize for it.

To hell with the bigoted pieces of crap such as Barky Odumshit, Jesse Jackass, the "Reverend" (yeah, as if) Al Sharpless, all of the damned BlackLivesMatter fools...every single one of you stupid liberal birkenstock-wearing, flowering-sniffing, earth-worshipping fools...all of you:

Go to hell!

Thank you very much.

(And no damned reparations and you ain't getting my guns!)
