UPDATED WITH FULL ROLL CALL VOTE –> SENATE PASSES OMNIBUS SPENDING BILL
The Right Scoop ^ | 12/18/2015

The Senate just passed the Omnibus spending bill that the House passed a few minutes ago:

I believe it's $680 BILLION, not million… https://t.co/fGeRMaYlMF

I’ll update with more when I have the vote counts and the roll calls…

UPDATE: Guess who missed such an important vote?

THE HILL – Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) missed Friday’s Senate vote approving a massive $1.8 trillion end-of-the-year spending bill and tax package — a day after he suggested that he would try to slow the legislation down.

The Florida Republican, who is running for president, was the only 2016 contender to miss the vote, which is the Senate’s final vote of the year.

Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), three other presidential candidates, all voted against the the legislation.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), a fourth GOP presidential candidate from the Senate, backed the bill.

UPDATE: Here’s the vote count. All they needed was a simple majority to pass it. They clearly got much more than that:

Senate PASSES $1.1 trillion Omnibus funding/$680 billion tax extender package, 65-33. The bill now goes to the WH for Pres Obama's signature

— Frank Thorp V (@frankthorpNBC) December 18, 2015

#BREAKING Senate approves combined omnibus/tax pkg in what is expected to be final vote of the year, 65-33.

— Chad Pergram (@ChadPergram) December 18, 2015

UPDATE: A strong statement from Sen. Cruz who voted against the bill:

What we’ve seen in Congress today is profoundly disappointing. This spending bill does not honor the promises we made to the men and women who elected us. It funds Obamacare. It funds Planned Parenthood. It funds executive amnesty. It fails to protect our national security and stop Syrian refugees from coming to this country. It fails to do anything to stop the Iranian Nuclear Deal. And what does it do? It jacks up yet more low-skilled immigration, which will only drag down wages, kill American jobs, and hurt working men and women.

This bill is the big-government agenda of Democrats that effectively forfeits our massive Republican victories of 2014 and cements Obama’s priorities for nearly the full remainder of his term. This is the Washington Cartel in action, and it’s precisely why the American people from coast-to-coast are so volcanically frustrated.

Finally a bill after 7 years. No more Continuing resolutions which were crap and did not justify their paycheck. This bill stinks but at least they are doing their obligated job for the first time. They are a shameful bunch but at least they accomplished 1 bill in 8 years of Obama’s Administration.

And Rubio ended his Presidential Campaign chances today by NO SHOWING for the vote.

Actually brilliant. If he voted for it, it would have been bad. If he voted against him, it would have been used in the general against him. He didn’t vote.........that is easier to defend then both the other scenarios.

Rubio was in a no-win situation so he took the easy way out. Not exactly presidential.

Graham proved he is definitely not running for POTUS (as if there were any doubt).

There are a lot of R’s that need to find a new vocation (no doubt as a smarmy lobbyist) and allow Americans who really will stand up for their country to represent their constituency. This is disgraceful.

Many posters on this thread have a mistaken view of what the Republican Party stands for. Why is anyone surprised? THIS is the Republican party!

Or let’s just eliminate the redundancy and all it The Uniparty from now on.

I still blame those who voted against it for not exercising stronger leadership with their ‘colleagues’. Failure on a grand scale!

I note also that Cornyn voted for.

Honestly, I think Cornyn is so annoyed by Cruz that he is becoming more liberal, just b/c he hates Cruz.....
