The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s reliance on poorly-sited weather stations to calculate surface temperatures is inflating the warming trend of the U.S. and maybe even the rest of the world, according to a landmark study looking at three decades of data.
“The majority of weather stations used by NOAA to detect climate change temperature signal have been compromised by encroachment of artificial surfaces like concrete, asphalt, and heat sources like air conditioner exhausts,†Anthony Watts, a seasoned meteorologist and lead author of the study, said in a statement Thursday.
These “compromised†weather stations run hotter than stations that are well-sited, and are used by NOAA as a benchmark to make upward adjustments for other weather stations that are part of the agency’s official temperature record.
Watts and his fellow researchers found only 410 “unperturbed†weather stations out of the 1,218 stations used by NOAA to determine U.S. climate trends. These “unperturbed†stations don’t need to be adjusted by NOAA because they had not been moved, had any equipment changes, or change in the time
Many have said that their home thermometers are cooler than the ‘official’ temp reported for their area.
All winter last winter it was true at my location.
This has been going on for YEARS, likely decades IMO. I remember reading about this siting problem long ago.

I thought the recent agreement on global warming was the last straw for any white people that still believe in it. It is a scam that first involved reducing the standard of living of Americans, then went on to transfer wealth from white populations to non-white populations (somehow exempting the worst offenders - Asia).
The money won’t go to ‘non-white’ populations. It will go to the UN. Then they will spend it how they want (on themselves and their own power.)
Poorly-sited? I think not. Carefully-chosen might be a better description. Because if your goal is to deliberately deceive, then those weather stations are exactly where you want them to be.

I thought non-white countries had already been named as recipients.
I’m no longer surprised when I meet white people that believe in this nonsense; it has replaced their traditional Christianity (since it is much more tolerant of four marriages, multiple abortions, and people who hold birthday parties for pets).
In Yuma Az they have their “official” thermometer at the Marine Corps Air Station. Nothing but concrete and Harriers near it.

They actually had a temperature station next to an air conditioning outlet. Hot air.
They had one in the middle of a blacktop parking lot.
They had one next to a propane grill.
They had one next to a 55 gallon burn barrel.
These people are deranged. It is their religion.

It is worse that that! They have been systematically going back in the old records and CHANGING THEM to produce current warming. I guess that is what they mean by climate CHANGE. Luckily several prominent weathermen have downloaded and archived the data so we still have an accurate record.
