On Tuesday, the Superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District announced that all schools would be shut down today due to an unspecified terror threat. According to ABC News, that threat also carries “unknown credibility.” Bus drivers say they have been returned to their bus depots. LAUSD is the nation’s second-largest school district, with 640,000 students and 900 schools; children range from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Back in ‘69 or ‘70 had a bomb threat at high school. FBI came out. Didn't close the school. They poked around awhile and that was that. I was in the office about a week later and our ass’t principal picked up the phone. “Oh year, well go ahead.”
That was how he handled the bomb threat. No bomb of course. I was laughing my ass off. Of course times are different. I can somewhat understand the concern now. Nothing even like that happened back then.

This is how our enemies win. Some jihadist screams allah akhbar into a phone, and the schools for the second largest city in the country shut down. Which means that roughly a half million parents have to arrange for daycare or stay home. Net economic impact: probably in the area of $50 to $100 mil. All for the cost of what? A phone call? A tweet?

NYC Police Commissioner Bratton cleared up the apparent differences in NYC and LA when it come to terror threats. NYC officials are just quicker and more proficient at identifying real threats as opposed to non credible ones.

NYC officials immediately decided that, since Allah was typed into the e-mail without capitalization that there was no credible threat. Of course there could be no connection to any jihadi terrorist on the planet because they would never do that. It’s apparent that NYC officials not only trust their own judgment implicitly but they also have the greatest admiration and trust in jihadi knowledge of punctuation and capitalization.

I can’t come up with a tag for the above. Sarcasm does not begin to describe. What’s the symbol for nausea?
