Trump raises 'red flag' with Limbaugh
Washington Examiner ^ | 14 Dec 15 | T. BECKET ADAMS

Talk radio host Rush Limbaugh inched away from GOP front-runner Donald Trump Monday, suggesting on his radio program that the casino tycoon's recent criticism of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, raises red flags.

"You cannot legitimately and honestly criticize Cruz's competence, his intelligence, his abilities. He's as bright and competent and capable and smart as anybody, and they all know it," the host said Monday, "A genuine conservative, even in the Republican field, would not go after Cruz this way. So that just raised a red flag for me, made me somewhat curious."

Limbaugh's comments came as part of a broader discussion regarding Cruz's sudden rise in the polls, especially in Iowa where the Texas senator holds a 10 point lead over Trump, according to a new Bloomberg Politics/Des Moines Register poll released Saturday.

Cruz will lose. Cruz is an ideologically pure ideologue, which is great - for people like us. He connects well with such people. But outside of the base he does not connect well. In the generals if Hillary can turn out swathes of low information voters like Obama did, Cruz will get crushed.

cruz may win the nomination, but he’d never win the election.

the dems would have him declared ineligible within 4-6 weeks of the election (a tactic favored by 0bama in chicago)

B.S. Not going to happen. If he wins the nomination, the Supremes are not going to nullify it.

Rush can take it. He's not as thin-skinned as Trumpsters.

” Conservatives are consolidating on Cruz. “ >>>>>

They sure are! Right along with the TPP crowd, GOPE, Big Lefty media, FOXNews, Hillary, Pelosi & Ryan, and best of all... the Club for Growth.

The Democrats do not want to run against TRUMP and the Republicans do not win with Trump. They can all use Cruz’ 2 point lead, in Iowa, build it up into the Second Coming, try to trouble Trump with it, but unless Cruz lines up with the Establishment, they take him out later.

Oops. Correction, please.

that’s how it’d be done.

0bama had someone declared ineligible in one of his races.

if i were a dem, it’s what i would do. why not? it’d be an easy win.

From my study on Cruz, he is more like one of our Founding Fathers which immediately puts him beyond the pale as far as the GOPe is concerned.

Which Founding Father? Probably a combination of James Madison and James Wilson.

Call me an idiot but I read a lot of biographies and Ted Cruz has more in common with them than he does with almost anyone in Congress.

That is why he appears to be such an anomaly.

If Ted Cruz cannot connect with people today then we have lost more than we know.

Having someone declared ineligible in Illinois politics because they lack a sufficient number of valid signatures on a petition for candidacy is not the same as declaring a candidate ineligible in a presidential election. That would immediately go to SCOTUS. I would almost guarantee the vote would not be close.

Yeah - and Cruz has slammed Rubio really good a few times.

Anyone who thinks that those running for President don't have a real burning desire to win, and won't do pretty much whatever they deem necessary to win, is not playing with a full deck.

That said:

Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
We need to ensure we don't get another Obama-like America Hater as the next President.
The best way to ensure that is to actively support a candidate as the next President.
I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader

PS - If you are one of those who cannot afford even a small donation to FR or a candidate, God Bless and happy FReeping!.....

GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!

Donate to FR

Donate to Cruz

Donate to FR

Rush and Levin are both putting a shot across Trump’s bow...and it is a good thing. This has to stop. Go after Clinton! Hopefully Trump will cease fire before this debate. If he goes off on Cruz in the debate, he will be shooting his campaign in the foot. This is what Rush and Levin are telling him.

Flip / Flop. I will be fun hearing Rush try to justify it today.

If he tried to backtrack, then he spoke truthfully the first time. That much I have learned from El Rushbo about politics. First spoke sentiments are far more real than the backtracked second thoughts.

they won’t “turn” on Trump...they’re not stupid.

Rush and Levin don ' t need to ' turn ' on Trump to impact his campaign...

They simply need to point out he isn't a conservative and Cruz is...

This place is a sort of echo chamber for Trump, it does not reflect America as a whole in general.

Yes, Trump is polling strong nationwide, but it a mile wide and an inch deep...

Daily and nightly mild criticism from the two conservative stalwarts on the dial will take it' toll...

Yeah... it’s starting to turn. Trump is moving toward the middle too soon. I expected it after the nomination, but not at this point. Slamming Cruz is one thing, he’s running against Cruz and I can see that at some level.... but slamming Scalia who is one of our strongest allies on a court where we need all the help we can get, was really bad.
