Trump raises 'red flag' with Limbaugh
Washington Examiner ^ | 14 Dec 15 | T. BECKET ADAMS

Talk radio host Rush Limbaugh inched away from GOP front-runner Donald Trump Monday, suggesting on his radio program that the casino tycoon's recent criticism of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, raises red flags.

"You cannot legitimately and honestly criticize Cruz's competence, his intelligence, his abilities. He's as bright and competent and capable and smart as anybody, and they all know it," the host said Monday, "A genuine conservative, even in the Republican field, would not go after Cruz this way. So that just raised a red flag for me, made me somewhat curious."

Limbaugh's comments came as part of a broader discussion regarding Cruz's sudden rise in the polls, especially in Iowa where the Texas senator holds a 10 point lead over Trump, according to a new Bloomberg Politics/Des Moines Register poll released Saturday.

I am soon disappointed in Rush. He knew what he was doing today, it was obvious. If we lose this election, I’ll blame him in part.

And when Cruz wins I will toast Rush.

Trump’s competing against the other candidates. He’s not supposed to kiss their butts.

Did you listen to the whole show, or are you just hearing sound bites someone wants you to hear?

Cruz raised the same red flag when he hopped in the sack with Amnesty Ryan to campaign for Obama’s TPA. No comparison between campaign hot air like this and the destructive actions of a sitting US Senator that enabled Barack Obama.

I listened to the whole show. I know he tried to backtrack.

Does anyone know, does Rush believe in deporting illegals? There’s something there we’re not seeing and someone said he likes Rubio too.

Remember Operation Chaos?

That worked out so well.

Don’t be too hasty.

Rush is brilliant. And no one understands political motivation better than Rush.

I believe what happened is this:

Trump always contrasts himself with others. No matter who he is debating or attacking, he contrasts himself with the opponent and then explains what he thinks and what he’d do differently.

With Cruz, I don’t think Trump can disagree on too many issues. So all he has to contrast himself against Cruz is Cruz’s experience in the Senate. He has to insult that by saying he is too polarizing.

It was a silly tact for Trump to take, because I’d bet that 90% of the people who support him do so because he makes such polarizing statements.

But what else can he say to counterattack Cruz when he thinks he’s been attacked?

He made that play and it was a bad play on Trump’s part. He should not have tried to criticize Cruz for being polarizing when that is what has put Trump at the top.

And he sure as hell should not have stated that what he’ll do differently is “reach across the aisle!!”

That is exactly what we all despise about the GOPE and the RINOs.

Rush brought this up as a friendly reminder to Trump that if he goes down the road of reaching across the aisle, we will view him as just another Christie, Graham, Kasich...all the rest of the RINOs.

Rush was trying to help Trump, IMHO anyway.

Sure but when he attacks them from the left it exposes him for what he is.

Would a public newscaster (entertainment caster?) endorse any candidate? It isn’t usually done.

Did Trump actually say reach across the aisle? I heard him but didn’t hear that. What Trump was criticizing was Cruz’s relationship with Republicans, not Democrats.

I think Trump doesn’t realize that if he loses Limbaugh and Levin, he loses the nomination.

Conservatives are consolidating on Cruz.

Limbaugh and Levin are businessmen...they sell ratings to make money. What causes more ratings for them...apparent discontent in their ranks...they won’t “turn” on Trump...they’re not stupid.

We need someone that will scare the pants and turbins off the enemy. We need someone that knows about business and how to stimulate it. We don’t need anything resembling a Theocracy. We don’t need negotiations with the enemy. We don’t need immigration.

Rush is confusing deal making with working across the isle. For a normal politician (GOPee), as far as I am concerned, wanting to ‘work across the isle’ almost instantly disqualifies him/her to me. Trump is a special case because he is a deal-maker. That’s his speciality. When Trump works across the isle, you can trust they won’t be give-aways.

Trump and his supporters need no one, certainly not long time conservatives. They are too perfect in their own eyes to bother with facts. Forget Rush. Forget Mark Levin. Forget Scalia. Forget Cruz. Forget.....everyone but their own mirror.

This is exactly why we keep losing on the principles.
