RUSH LIMBAUGH: TRUMP’S ATTACK ON CRUZ RAISES RED FLAGS – [AUDIO]
TheRightScoop ^ | 12/14/15 | TheRightscoop

Posted on 12/14/2015 11:11:04 AM PST by gwgn02

Rush Limbaugh said today on his radio show that Donald Trump’s attack on Ted Cruz over the weekend, calling him a ‘maniac’ given the way he’s dealt with McConnell and others in the Senate, is not an attack a genuine conservative would make and it has raised a red flag for him: While I would certainly vote for Trump if he were the nominee, I’ve never thought he was a genuine conservative. But I do think he’s tried in some ways to bridge his positions with conservatism and I think he generally leans in that direction.

At the end of the day though, if he becomes president, I expect a lot of compromise with Congress, especially on his more conservative positions — and I know that going into the voting booth. If you expect something different you might be in for a big surprise.

This is also why I support Ted Cruz. I do expect him to compromise with Congress as well, as he has said as much, but I don’t believe he will go so far as to compromise his principles.

Well, that’s a bit much. I don’t think Cruz is a maniac for calling McConnell a liar. He was just being truthful. Blunt but truthful. However, bluntness like that from a junior senator will make him less effective in the long run (in the senate).

Trump could’ve been less blunt himself.

No doubt in my mind that Cruz has a spreadsheet detailing Trump and what buttons to push, when to push them, what to expect when they’re pushed, and what the response should be.

He’s been quietly studying each of the candidates in detail, Trump in particular.

I may be wrong, but it just seems like the process Cruz uses to work through the maze.

Anybody else? I can’t keep up with all the people that once sane FReepers have tagged as evil and absolutely NOT CONSERVATIVE simply because they’ve said something in oppostion to the NEVER conservative Donald Trump. D

It does get old. I think "we shoot our wounded" is a term applied to Republicans but NEVER to dems.

Trump is the one being a crony capitalist for supporting Ethanol mandates. He was criticising Cruz for opposing them. So, Trump was criticising Cruz for his refusal to play crony capitolism. Trump also attacked Cruz for being too much of a “maniac” in opposing Mitchell McConnell and calling him a liar. Do you stand with Trump and Mitchell McConnell on that attack? Finally, Trump attacked justice Scania this weekend for being too insensitive to blacks in his oral argument questioning. Do you support that attack?

I don’t think even McCain called Scalia a racist. I could be wrong. That was a step waaaaay too far for my tastes. Forget the Cruz battle. What about Trump essentially calling Scalia a racist? Are you fine with that?

Trump is going to be the mother of all betrayers. Conservatives are used to getting excited about a candidate, working hard, getting him/her elected and then being stabbed in the back. Trump is going to make the others look like conservative loyalists.

First few times, shame on them. At this point, shame on us if we do not pay attention to the red flags.

“Trump is the one being a crony capitalist for supporting Ethanol mandates.”

And supporting big oil is not being a crony capitalist. Okay.

What truth? Are you saying you think Cruz is a maniac and Scalia is a racist?

Some of Trump’s well-known conservative views:

“Barack Obama proved that determination combined with opportunity and intelligence can make things happen—and in an exceptional way.”

“[A]mending the Civil Rights Act would grant the same protection to gay people that we give to other Americans–it’s only fair.”

“[Mitt Romney] had a crazy policy of self-deportation, which was maniacal. It sounded as bad as it was, and he lost all of the Latino vote.”

“Now that we’ve said these people are no longer deadbeats—they’re actually out there being productive—how do we keep them there?”

“The economy crashed so horribly under George Bush because of mistakes they made having to do with banking and lots of other things. I don’t think the Democrats would have done that.”

“Look at the war in Iraq and the mess that we’re in. I would never have handled it that way.”

And all Rush was saying and all many of us are saying is this: This is a big red flag because this appears to highlight a serious flaw in Trumps thinking. A conservative would NOT have attacked Cruz from that point of view. That would be like you saying “Cruz can’t be president because he called McConnell a liar, he doesn’t have the judgment.” That would be ludicrous to even conceive of seeing you say something like that...because you wouldn’t.

But Trump’s kneejerk is to come at it from a liberal point of view....just like eminent domain and Obamacare and a host of other things....which is terrifying.

He was pointing out to Iowa that Cruz was not with them on this. But it was a mistake to pander.

“The way he’s dealt with the Senate — where he goes in frankly like a bit of a maniac — you never get things done that way,” Trump said on “Fox News Sunday.” “You can’t walk into the Senate and scream and call people liars and not be able to cajole and get along with people. He’ll never get anything done. That’s the problem with Ted.”
