What I know is that Trump criticized Cruz just like the GOP establishment does...for not getting along with Mitch McConnell in the Senate. You can delude yourself into thinking this is a laughing matter, but Trump just went full McConnell on Cruz. He went full Graham on Cruz.

Besides the obvious humor, now the pleasing image of the dancer will come to mind first at the mention of the word 'maniac', replacing the negative image of an extreme ideologue (especially for the guys).

If you didn’t like that as “unchristian” then you probably didn’t like Cruz’s response to a question on contraception, “There is no rubber shortage in America.” I was there when he said it and can testify that a packed room of Iowans, too evangelic according to MSM to reflect general GOP primary voters, much less general election voters, loved Cruz’s response.

You're keying on the wrong part of Trump's criticism.
Trump used the word maniac to describe Cruz's behavior in the senate. That's similar to the way McConnell, McCain, Lindsey Graham, Harry Reid and Big Media has described Cruz's behavior in the Senate.
Trump's attack is from the left.

We shall see. Polls are fluid, but he remains atop the heap in all but a few Iowa polls. As we all know Iowa is terrible at picking contested Presidential nominees.

The reason is that a caucus isn’t an election it is a circus. And a boring one at that.
Iowa is terrible in picking nominees WHEN THEY PICK A SINGLE NICHE candidate like Huck and Santorum. Neither Trump nor Cruz is a single niche candidate...both appeal to several types of voters.
