The T2 has some mixed reviews and mine is the older one and seems bulletproof. I got lucky. 2 and a half pack a day saves me a ton. I need to quit but last time I did for 4 years my weight went thru the roof.

The number of state-taxed cigarette packs sold in New York has plummeted by 54 percent in the past decade. That's far outpacing the 19 percent decline in New Yorkers who have quit smoking over the same time... more smokers are buying cigarettes in ways that avoid New York's $4.35 per pack tax... In the past five years, the state's cigarette tax collections have dropped by about $400 million... A pack of Marlboro Reds bought in the town of Onondaga recently cost $10.58. That includes a state tax of $4.35 per pack, a federal excise tax of $1.01 per pack, and 8 percent sales tax of 78 cents.
For a long while now, gubmint has been steal- er, making more money per cigarette than the manufacturers. Laffer Curve Ping.

Same thing with car registration in Kansas. It is so much more expensive than any other state, that Kansas residents by the thousands have tagged their vehicles in other states by using parents or adult children’s addresses that live in other states. The majority are tagging them in Texas, followed by Missouri and Oklahoma. Because almost every Kansan has a close relative living in one of those states.

Good thing we have Wal-Mart, or we'd be making weekly runs to China!

Ha ha! I see what you did there. Bravo.

The “Invisible Hand” of free enterprise finds a cheaper way to smoke and having smoked, moves on, and not all your liberal piety nor tears shall change it.

I bought a cig making machine and the tobacco and filtered tubes and am spending slightly less than 15 per carton.

Do some searching. I buy tobacco & tubes in bulk and paying about $5 a carton.

Your story is very similar to mine.I quit in 1979. None of my boys smoke. The only reason I started is because my Dad smoked. If you have kids, remember that you are their primary role model. Be a good one.

I remember when cartons of cigarettes had Christmas decorations on them because they were an inexpensive and much appreciated gift for people like the mailman, grocer and others. Booze too. My grandmother bought a case or two of pre-wrapped booze to hand out to trashmen, plowmen and other workers.

At hospitals now one pays a four thousand dollar additional premium on health insurance if on smokes.

Of course there is no premium on marathoners, who need new joints every ten to twenty years, or child soccer players who blow out their knees by fifteen.
