As details surrounding the San Bernardino, California, shooting gradually emerged Wednesday evening, President Barack Obama told CBS News that the U.S. has “a pattern now of mass shooting in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world.â€
The mass shooting at a social services agency in San Bernardino left at least 14 dead and 17 others wounded. It is also the deadliest mass shooting in the U.S. since Adam Lanza opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, on Dec. 15, 2012, killing 26 children and adults, the Associated Press reported.
Using data from shootingtracker.com, which is maintained by a Reddit group, we’ve updated our map that documents all the U.S. mass shootings in 2015 alone. The group defines mass shootings as incidents when at least four people are killed or wounded, including the gunman.
Those don’t count. Incorrect narrative. I didn’t total up the numbers, but does it compare to the yearly rates of killed and wounded in chi town? Since the assclown yesterday worked for the county will they move forward with the workplace violins BS? Surely it can’t have anything to do with isis/isil/is. How do you recruit someone else to go along with this kind of action unless they are of the same mindset? I suppose the best thing to do is to call for more restrictive gun laws cause we all know that will stop this crap. Right? Are we idiots? (Nationally, rhetorically) Yes. Now back to climate discombobulation.
Not only are non-fatal shootings listed, but the shooter is added in to the total if killed or wounded.
I am confident that if the US had the same media and political leadership in 1941, Pearl Harbor would have been included as a mass shooting incident, instead of what it was.
Whoa! Even worse are the comments after the article. It appears that we are corrected and the NRA is, as usual, behind all the gun violence because the gun companies need to sell more guns. Or something. Lots of ignorance being placed on display for us to see. And, you can NOT argue with people like that either.
Or murder suicides by a family member on psychotropic drugs....

All of the ones in Massachusetts are gang shootings.
I’d like to see that map color coded for Muslim perps, gang-related perps and perps on/off prescribed psychiatric meds.

Don’t know. But the one and only in South Dakota was a man who killed his wife, 4 children and then himself. Does not really qualify as a ‘mass shooting”. IMO. A tragedy for sure, but the guy also set his house on fire before killing himself.

The source is a lie. 4 people wounded, for any reason, counts as a mass shooting to them. Gang, bar fight, etc.
Alot of them are gang related....zoom in on Chicago and Baltimore. Some of them don’t even have dead...just a few shot.

I’d also like the graphics to show the races/religions/origin country of the perps. In addition, I’d like some honest depiction of how those percentages compare to the general population of the US. Example: If 20% of the perps are black, but only 10% of the population is black, I want that to be prominently displayed and explained. (I’d be willing to bet that more than 20% of the perps are black. And for true mass murders, I’d be willing to bet that muslims and atheists are grossly overrepresented in the perp population.) I’d like to know which incidents involved only total strangers as opposed to lovers’ quarrels, family disputes, barroom brawls, neighbors, co-workers, etc. I’d like to know how many involved drug deals and gang warfare.
Regarding news coverage, I’d like to see the amount of news coverage for white on black crime vs. black on white crime.
I’d also like to see something that shows the number of fake “hate crimes” that turned out to be hoaxes and the coverage for the hate crime stage vs. the coverage for the hoax stage.
That would be a good start. I’m sure there are a lot more statistics and facts that would be enlightening if they were presented honestly.
Here is a list I’ve found.
In 1902 Harry Tracy stacked up dead law men with a 30-30 Winchester rifle.
The BATH school disaster with a bomb, 1927.
Then there was the Saint Valentine’s Day massacre in 1929.
Sept. 1949: Howard Unruh left his house for a twelve minute walk around his Camden, New Jersey neighborhood, shooting people at random and killing 13.
Jan. 1958: Charlie Starkweather & Caril Ann Fugate went on a gunning spree after killing Caril’s parents and sister. The two of them traveled through Nebraska and were captured in Wyoming ultimately killing eleven people.
July 1966: Charles Whitman barricaded himself in the University of Texas clock tower and began shooting at students below. The shoot off lasted 90 minutes and ultimately killed 18 people and wounded 30 others.
Dec: 1972: Mark James Robert Essex hid down the street from a police station and target police with a .44 magnum killing 10 people and wounding 13 others in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Mar. 1975: James Ruppert shot and killed his mother, brother, sister-in-law and eight nieces and nephews at an Easter Sunday dinner in Hamilton, Ohio. The 11 victims were shot a total of 35 times.
July 1976: Edward Charles opened fired with a .22 caliber rifle in the basement library of the California State University in Fullerton. He killed seven people and injured two.
1982: Carl Brown shot and killed 8 people at a Miami machine shop where he just recently had his lawn mower worked on. He was then caught trying to escape and ran over by civilians chasing him.
April 1982: A police officer gathered weapons from the local armory and used his police status to enter homes and kill those who were there. He either shot them or killed them with grenades. The officer continued this for eight hours.
Sept 1982: George Banks went on a shooting spree and killed 13 people with an AR-15 high-powered rifle in Wilkes-Barre City and Jenkins Township.
July 1984: James Oliver Huberty dressed in camouflage and went to McDonalds in San Ysidro. At McDonalds he opened fire and killed 21 people before a sniper shot ended his life.

I find it interesting that so many of these happened before the so-called “assault rifle†became popular.
I’m sure that if you look closer at the times before 1970 you will find many more mass killings. I remember seeing a tabloid photo of a 1950s family who picked up a hitch hiker and he murdered the entire family and dumped their bodies in a well. The man, wife, several kids, and I remember the youngest child laying there dead still in the little cowboy outfit he had on.
Don’t forget about the Thanksgiving Day massacre 50 years ago. ;-)
