A pediatric emergency medicine physician is urging doctors to join the effort for gun control by asking about gun ownership while performing health histories on their patients.

A panel titled “The Tipping Point: Activating a Public Health Movement to Address Gun Violence” was featured at the American Public Health Association (APHA)’s 2015 annual meeting in Chicago earlier in November. The panel called for a view of gun violence as a public health emergency situation.

When this occurs, they no longer have the right to the truth and lying to them becomes acceptable.

exactly

honesty is not the best policy in certain contexts: in dealing with nazis, criminals, tyrannical governments, and dictatorships.

One I would answer none of your business if asked that by my doctor and two immediately seek out another doctor. You know that such information under Obamacare will be shared with federal agencies. While many of us have been treated for depression, that information is also likely being collected as a means to confiscate your guns. Any history of “mental illness” would be a convenient excuse for government goon squads to show up at your door to take your firearms.

Sounds good. But at the time I was trying to adopt my granddaugher (the adoption has since been finalized thank God). As it was a hostile scenario terminating the rights of her parents,

My wife and I were in the same situation a few years back. I kept waiting for the gun ownership question but it never came.

The social worker did ask about smoke detectors though, an absolutely relevant question.

“I’ve had the same feeling about Concealed carry permits.”

Yes, they are a “two-edged sword” as is were. Apart from the legal aspects of carrying, any time you’re stopped they know you may have a weapon which puts you in danger.

In my neck of the woods, having one and presenting it behind my driver license if I am stopped, has generated a decent amount of goodwill and has lead to warnings instead of tickets.

If this isn't the case in your neck neck of the woods, quite possibly you should consider moving.

My son is 26. When he was about 6, I took him the the pediatrician and during the exam, she asked if I had any guns in the house. I ignored her. She asked again. I ignored her again. She gave up.

Exactly. They can't have their national gun registry.

When you buy a weapon today you must pass a background check. Do you really think they don't keeps those applications?

I have never had a doctor ask me anything about guns.

Doctors likely don't ask, they have aids do that.

“I shoot skeet with my doc!”

An EXCELLENT COVER by the doctor. I wouldn’t fall for it, as he still has to submit your information.

That’s a very good non-answer to give that I will have to remember.

I don't hunt. Do I need one?

I had a doctor run a couple tests on me I didn’t authorize. Found a new doctor the next week.
If my new doctor brought this subject up, I would give one warning to drop it.

My doctor’s aides can barely speak English. They might ask me about guns and I’d think they mean’t Tums. :-)

Mine asked me the best place to buy ammo locally. It was hard to find a good primary..it took years, but it was worth it. As soon as I heard him describe some SEU hospital staff as “Moonbats” I knew I hit paydirt. “Aha. Closet Freeper.”

I guess the politburo and the S.S. stopped by with their Juden armbands and the new ones with the crosses on them when they told the “doctor” to cooperate.

Whatever happen to “First do no harm”??

I will give up my license to practice before I do anything that violates my conscience

Oh, surely not since you constantly brag about your "title"
and how now bragged about how much money you make. It's fun being
superior, isn't it? Maybe when you get assaulted you can flash your
fancy title at the bad guys. They'll probably throw money and respect
at you.. unlike the untitled serfs and underlings that you despise.

Yeah, good luck.

Answer the question with a question. How many lawsuits have been filed against you before mine?

It could well be to the point where a doctor is required to ask these questions. For instance to qualify to receive medicare funds.

For someone who does not know me you surely are the expert aren’t you? You are rude crude and otherwise a nuisance. Good thing most here do not pay any attention to you. I hope someday you have kind words for someone. It might do you good.
