Decorated Marine and Children Detained in Mexico After Crossing Border with Guns

After accidentally crossing the border into Mexico with guns in his vehicle, a highly decorated former Marine was detained with his children and later released. He had accidentally crossed the border with hunting rifles after taking a wrong turn in Texas.

Retired Marine First Sergeant Jeromie Slaughter, 38, decided to take his 14-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter on a hunting trip to a deer lease located near Rocksprings, Texas, according to Click2Houston.com. His family said he had not been to the lease before and made a wrong turn.

Rocksprings is located approximately 70 miles from the Texas/Mexico border at Del Rio.

Slaughter’s family said he ended up on a road that led to Ciudad Acuna, Mexico. “He knew they were lost and when he seen the sign that said ‘no guns,’ you know, no weapons, he knew that he had gone too far,” Slaughter’s mother Beverly McKinney, told the Houston TV station.

Better get a GPS device if you’re driving in the area.

******************

Best leave your guns at home son, leave you guns at home...

If’n you gonna be crossing into Mexico.

Knives can be a no no also. So best to be sure if you cross the border. A GPS maybe a help but with an unmarked border be careful.

You can make it to Sargent in the Marines without being able to read a map or locate yourself within 70 miles? Then, of course, there is the issue of crossing the river. Three marines in three years don’t know an international border when they see one? Tahmooressi was also a sergeant. Don’t know Hammar’s rank.

Sounds like the Marines need to go back to basic skills.

Last time I was there, the border at Ciudad Acuna wasn't unmarked. But that was years ago. I don't go to Mexico these days. The only reasons to think about going there would be cheap drugs or dental care.

bigdaddy, the only thing I have to say to you is “Lighten up, Francis.”. A quick review of your recent postings shows me that perhaps the only thing you like more than taking shots at FReepers is defending Islamist Turkey’s attempts to defend ISIS.

I don’t know if the group still does it but at one point a few years back I knew of one that would charter a Greyhound, leave at midnight, arrive at the border around 7am, cross the border and their perscriptions filled and shop, etc. Then they would come back to the bus, and leave for home abour 2pm. They would do this every quarter and I don’t remember the cost but it was cheap for both the drugs and the bus fee.

A bit on the illegal side, but generally not enforced so long as the prescriptions aren’t for narcotics.

The GPS he was using was made in China.

Sounds like a conspiracy against Trump.

Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, a veteran with PTSD, was stripped, beaten and held for months and months by the scumbag Mexicans.

At one point after his release, Sgt. Tahmooressi said he was contacted by Donald Trump who gave the sergeant $20,000 to help him get back on his feet.

Something smells here. The Texas/Mexico border is separated by the Rio Grande River. There are only two bridge between Laredo and Big Bend, a distance of several hundred miles. The two bridges are in cities, with customs stations. There simply has to be more to this story.

Yes, I wasn’t going to mention that he was riding the PTSD train. Shouldn’t have had any guns, anyway. So it was really the VA’s fault.

Those signs must be written in cursive. The cartels can’t read them.

Mexico, enforcing the border that US presidents won’t.

Not that the media ever leaves something out or simply gets the facts wrong. . . .
