Down 12 Points, Trump Has Biggest Poll-to-Poll Decline in Months

Is Trump-mentum finally slowing down? While this is only one poll and the GOP establishment is still in panic mode over Trump's continued lead, a Reuters/Ipsos survey released Friday shows the GOP frontrunner lost 12 points in less than a week, "his largest single poll-to-poll drop since he took the primary lead in July," The Hill reports.

The rolling poll, which was conducted from Nov. 23 to Nov. 27, still has the real estate mogul at the top, finding favor among 31 percent of Republicans. However, support for Trump is down from a peak of 43 percent, which was registered on Nov. 22.

Reuters points to some of his recent controversial remarks, which may be to blame for the drop.

The dip follows criticism of Trump for comments he made in the aftermath of the Nov. 13 Paris attacks that killed 130 people and wounded hundreds more.

Following the attacks, Trump told an NBC News reporter that he would support requiring all Muslims within the United States to be registered to a special database, which his critics have likened to the mandatory registration of Jews in Nazi Germany.

Trump has also been criticized for flailing his arms and distorting his speech as he mocked a New York Times reporter, Serge Kovaleski, who is disabled.

Trump mocked the reporter as he defended his unsubstantiated assertion that during the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, he watched on television as "thousands and thousands" of people in New Jersey cheered while the World Trade Center fell.

But it wasn't only Trump who slipped in the poll. Ben Carson also dropped with only 15 percent of Republicans saying they'd support him.

At more than 8 percent, Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz tied for third place, followed by Gov. Jeb Bush, who came in at 7 percent.

Rubio, Bush, Kasich, Fiorina, etc would kill to get 31% poll number.

No mention of the fact that he picked up Carson’s supporters when Carson dropped, and then those supporters went back to Carson.

Could not agree more.

Meanwhile Hillary is running around for president with a serial rapist husband and crickets.

She has committed so many felonies and more crickets.

Ridiculous what they are trying to do with there fly swatters going after Trump. Simply absurd.

“Trump has got to start thinking a bit smarter.”

It’s a shame that one has to adjust to Progressive irresponsibility, but it seems that Herr Goebbles was right; repeat the lie, repeat it often.

How ironic that the Nazis were defeated on the battlefield yet Herr Goebbles live on.

How absolutely shameful.

IMHO

Birther, LOL, it's called the law

From the US State Department
A child born abroad to a U.S. citizen parent or parents may acquire U.S. citizenship at birth if certain statutory requirements are met. The child's parents should contact the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate to apply for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America (CRBA) to document that the child is a U.S. citizen. If the U.S. embassy or consulate determines that the child acquired U.S. citizenship at birth, a consular officer will approve the CRBA application and the Department of State will issue a CRBA, also called a Form FS-240, in the child's name.

The procedure is as documented for US Armed forces families at military.findlaw.com but this procedure dates back to 1910 and applies to all US citizens living aboard.

From military.findlaw

If the parents are married to each other, the child is a U.S. citizen if

One parent is a U.S. citizen, and the U.S. citizen parent lived in the U.S. for at least five years prior to the child's birth, at least two of which were after the age of fourteen.

In Cruzs' case the above is applicable. Then the procedure to acquire "birth citizenship" is:

After the parents have determined that their child is a U.S. citizen, they need to apply for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad at the nearest U.S. consulate. The parents will need to submit an application (PDF), along with documentation proving the parents' citizenship and the record of the child's birth from the resident country. The Consular Report of Birth Abroad can be used later as proof of the child's U.S. citizenship, and may be used to obtain a U.S. passport for the child. -

The same one that shows Trump down 12 points shows Cruz below Carson and Rubio.

And??? As I have said repeatedly, I don't look at individual polls so as much as the trends of multiple polls. Almost all of the polls show Cruz in the top 4. Where he places in the top 4 varies, but I think it is safe to say that Trump, Carson, Rubio and Cruz are the top 4 candidates right now. Cruz seems to be moving up in Iowa at the moment, but that could change between now and February. So I don't get too worked up over the day to day poll changes.

As some of the other candidates begin to drop out and we see where their support goes, we can get a better feel for the direction of the election. But I think we already see the 4 that will still be competing in March. Bush may hang in until Florida, but not after that.

>> anything from Reuters is suspect in my mind <<

What about their previous poll, which showed Trump at about 42%? That poll obviously was accurate.

If you want to refer to me as a "Cruzer", feel free.

Wake up call for the Land of Californication (being on the far left time zone), I'M a 'Cruzer' and was supporting Cruz (and still do) long before Trump got into the race.

And if you want to get offended by the term "Trumpkin", you are free to do that as well. I have noticed that many Trump supporters get offended by just about as many things as the SJW college students do...

Ahhh there you go again, equating Trump supporters with 'SJWs'. Here's a question for you to ponder: WWCD?

(What Would Cruz Do?)

See my tagline for a clue.

any sample size less that 1000 registered voters is worthless.
a screen for “likely” voters is even better.
I guess we won’t see those until after Christmas.

We’ve seen this same headline recycled numerous times over the last couple of months - it has yet to be warranted. Fluctuations are within the margin of error, and even Trump’s numbers as the front runner are not high enough that moves just within the margin of error won’t appear to be substantial.

This, in a purportedly “conservative” magazine? Guess it’s reallly just part of the GOPe

Yes, anything critical of Trump has to be the "GOPe", doesn't it? Trump is not a conservative - quite the opposite - therefore conservatives are generally going to be critical of his candidacy. That's reality. Trump puts on a good show and unfortunately that's apparently what a substantial number of voters want - a good show - doesn't matter how liberal he is on numerous issues.

“But but but Mister media scumbag if you really believed this fake number why oh why wouldn’t you put it the front page? Could it be that then you’d have to acknowledge the Reuters poll and the ridiculous methodology - using a 22.9% “not voting” element and the tiny 347 respondent universe? You’d have to explain why Reuters counted people who are not voting. Oh Mister Media scumbag you disappointed me.”
