Republican Trump drops 12 percentage points in poll: Reuters/Ipsos [Trump 30%, Carson 2nd with 11%]

U.S. presidential hopeful Donald Trump's support among Republicans has dropped 12 points in less than a week, marking the real estate mogul's biggest decline since he vaulted to the top of the field in July, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.

Trump was the favorite of 31 percent of Republicans in a rolling poll in the five days ended on Nov. 27. That was down from a peak of 43 percent registered on Nov. 22.

The dip follows criticism of Trump for comments he made in the aftermath of the Nov. 13 Paris attacks that killed 130 people and wounded hundreds more.

Following the attacks, Trump told an NBC News reporter that he would support requiring all Muslims within the United States to be registered to a special database, which his critics have likened to the mandatory registration of Jews in Nazi Germany.

Trump has also been criticized for flailing his arms and distorting his speech as he mocked a New York Times reporter, Serge Kovaleski, who is disabled.

Trump mocked the reporter as he defended his unsubstantiated assertion that during the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, he watched on television as "thousands and thousands" of people in New Jersey cheered while the World Trade Center fell.

Still, Trump is not the only front-runner to slide in the latest survey.

Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson has seen his poll numbers drift downward and now trails Trump by more than half, with just 15 percent of Republicans polled saying they would vote for him in the same Nov. 27 poll. As recently as late October, Carson trailed Trump by only six points.

Following Carson, Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Texas Senator Ted Cruz are tied for third place, with more than 8 percent each.

Cruz may actually have a shot at Iowa. I read somewhere that he started organizing to some extent two years in advance of announcing, if you can believe that.

But, as for me, I have not even considered anyone but Trump and plainly don’t care about the polls for anyone else. There is only one Trump, and I certainly understand polls will tighten, but I “ain’t” moving anywhere.

I have been a 100% supporter from the day he came down into the Lobby of Trump Towers and announced his bid for President...I have not wavered nor have I thought he wouldn't make it...

We are going to the Oval Office with President Donald John Trump in 2017!!!

Coming from the lefty reporter, I’d sure believe him before Trump, I bet.

“I’d rather see a conservative leading in the polls, not Trump.”

Me, too. Unfortunately, Reagan isn’t running.

National GOP average 223 polls and 33 pollsters (just pulled off Trump's twitter account)

“I’m starting to think Trump is a mean dude and doesn’t have the right attitude to be POTUS.”

I agree. We need a castrated poodle like George Bush II who never fought back against attacks by the neo-fascist left. He left office with a 28% approval rating. We need somebody wimpy who can break Bush’s record disapproval rating. How about Jeb?

I’ll take someone like Reagan who destroys his opponents with humor and making a case to the American people. Trump acts like a buffon and it’s probably one of the reasons why he’s starting to slip in the polls.

The line that reveals the article to be BS:

"The dip follows criticism of Trump for comments he made in the aftermath of the Nov. 13 Paris attacks that killed 130 people and wounded hundreds more."

“Fortunately, Cruz is.”

Only if Cruz can rectify and change his position on H1-B visas. If you have evidence that Cruz has changed course, post it.

“I’ll take someone like Reagan who destroys his opponents with humor and making a case to the American people.”

Totally agree with you, erod, but Reagan is gone - forever. Reagan was unique and effective. God love the man.

Give me the next candidate we have in the wings who is our next Reagan. The closest politician I’ve found who is similar to Reagan is Sheriff David Clarke in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He speaks his mind like Reagan. He’s arrested and removed leftists like Reagan did when he was the California governor. And he speaks like Reagan on the stump.

If you have a candidate like Reagan, state the man’s name.

If Trump knew this reporter, then he would know that he is handicapped....Trump wouldn't make fun of people like that, he's not built that way..

Why in the world would you think he's not built that way? He seems to LOVE insulting people.

I don't see how a serious Christian could support a man like Donald Trump. Cruz is a much more decent man, and a much better candidate. And he can control himself.

Be a little fair here. Trump loves to insult people for what they do/say/write (like this reporter). He doesn’t insult people for characteristics over which they have no control. He’s measured in his insults.

Just curious: how is it that a ‘better candidate’ lingers @ 4th place in most polls. Cruz is a decent man, no argument. He’s academically the smartest one out there, true. But apparently not that good as a candidate.
