Top 10 Firearms Deals on Black Friday
PJ Media ^ | November 25, 2015 | Liz Sheld

Are you looking for a reason to shop on Black Friday? I'm skipping it, like I do every year. I'm too much of a princess to stand out in the cold and I certainly don't like to wait in line. But I do love a good deal, especially a good deal on firearms.

So if you haven't entirely ruled out some Black Friday madness, here are some deals on firearms that might motivate you to participate in the American tradition of freezing outside while you wait for bargains.

Gander Mountain

I love, love, love Gander Mountain. It's my first stop when I can't wait for online orders to ship to me.

1. This Smith & Wesson M&P Shield conceal gun in 9mm or .40 caliber is $374.99 with a $50 Gander gift card. You need to get all up in this deal. True story: I just bought this gun at the gun show less than 12 hours before I started writing this. I got a good deal, but this one is a little bit better.

SmithWessonShield

2. Blazer Brass Ammo. This Blazer Brass ammo is a good price at $84.99 for 350 rounds of 9mm, 250 rounds of .40 S&W or 200 round of .45 ACP. Get your Black Friday hands on this … if you can. It will go fast.

3. Nothing says 'Merica like a Remington 870 Express Pump shotgun. For $239.99, you can own this classic in 12-Ga or 20-Ga. If you're looking for a home defense shotgun, go with the 12-Ga. It comes with one of the most effective self-defense features of all: the sound of racking a round into the chamber.

Cabela's

4. FREE GUN! I wish I had a Cabela's near me, but I don't. I if I did, I might get in line for this Winchester XPR Bolt-Action rifle they are giving away. Giving away! If you are one of the first 600 people in line *wincing at a 600 person line* you could win this gun. There are five being raffled off at each store.

CabelasWinchester

5. This a good deal on a Taurus PT111 Millennium Pro G2 pistol 9mm. After a $50 mail-in rebate and discount, it's only $199. It comes with an NRA membership for a year so you can help them fight the Mom's Demand crew when you buy the gun. Definitely a hot deal if you are looking for a decent, inexpensive gun and really, why not have an extra 9mm around? Just in case.

TaurusPT111

6. While you're at Cabela's check out their selection of Gun Tote'n Mama's Concealed-Carry Purses for you, or the lady in your life. They are on sale for 10% off. Carry yourself with style, I always say.

GunTotnMamasPurse

It wasn't very long ago that conceal bags for women were so incredibly ugly, no one would want one. It's a very different market now and some of the conceal purses are just lovely. I hope Cabela's has this bag in stock. I would like the Hanukkah fairy to bring it to me.

GTMBag

Bass Pro Shop

7. This is a decent deal on .22 L.R. ammo: 325 rounds for only $19.99. You'll need to hustle for this. The deal is only good from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. and you can only get one box, so bring your family members to purchase more. Thanksgiving is all about family. Sure you can find a good deal online, but the shipping on ammo always hurts.

Federal22LR

8. A Remington 11-87 semi-automatic shotgun in 12-Ga or 20-Ga that takes 2 ¾ or 3 inch rounds for $499.97 would make a nice Christmas gift for someone who wants to start hunting or clay shooting. It's a classic, reliable shotgun and since it's a semi-auto, the recoil won't knock you into next week. If you can get someone to buy you a flat of Remington gun club shells, you'll be able to head down to the nearest trap field and learn how to bust 'em and dust 'em.

Sportsman's Warehouse

9. Can you ever have too many .22 caliber pistols? I don't think so. This Walther P22 for $249.99 is a sweet little baby and will give you hours of fun plinking around. If you've managed to grab this gun along with the .22lr at Bass Pro, you're in good shape for a few hours of fun on a crisp Saturday at an outdoor range.

SWWaltherP22

10. If you are thinking about a nice carry gun, this deal on a Springfield Armory XDS in 9mm or .45 ACP is a solid buy. The 9mm will set you back $349.99 and the .45 ACP goes for $399.99. It's has a nice short barrel at 3.3 inches. The .45 ACP has a lot of stopping power, so I'd recommend it for a carry gun over the 9mm if your hand can manage the kick.

Thanks for the tip, will do, that’s where I’ll go next.
I was using Hornady Critical Defense to make sure they cycled OK and surprised I didn’t get hammered.
I’m about 50/50 hammer/striker in semi-auto pistols now.
If you like Remington, I saw Natchez latest catalog had 1,000 Rem. FMJ for about $200.

Is is the same as the Golden Saber? I may have some of that left somewhere.
Does the bullet open up as when shot through a full size pistol?

The nice thing about the Hornady is it is supposed to defeat fabric, denim, etc.

It wouldn’t surprise me if its the same projectile. But Remington claims they’ve optimized the cartridge for short barrels. I can tell you that it feeds flawless in my XDS. For me the recoil is very manageable. It’s also very accurate out to 7 yards or so.

That is an awesome show they do. I’m not counting on big deals this year though, too much of the sounds of threats from DC. They are moving inventory fast and have no reason to drop prices.

Excellent advice. I would also add in a spare lower. Never can have enough.

I'm picking up my PT111 tomorrow at a local gun shop.

Read a review on it. Sounds like a nic gun, esp if you get a misfire youb get a second chance. Does it fire without the magazine? My LC9sPro does, and the only control is the slide stop; and every trigger pull the same. Good luck!

For many years I competed in 25 yard "pistol" competition with my 4" 686+ and hand-loaded 38SPL. Most matches I could hold 95 pts or better on a target. This year I succumbed to the urge to have a 9mm pistol. The short barrel Ruger LC9s and S&W M&P Shield are not competition class firearms. A 2 inch pattern at 7 yards is typical with Blazer 9mm FMJ. The Sig P238 (380) is a little tighter due to the single action trigger. I still shoot a revolver in SA more accurately, but they are bulky for CCW.

My 38SPL competition load used West Coast Bullet 138 gr DEWC over 3.8 gr Win 231 powder. I'm having trouble finding components for that at the current time. The Win296/H110 that I favor for 300 BLK, 357mag, 44mag and 454 Casull is never in stock anymore.

My only complaint about the LC9s is having to find a tool to push out the take-down pin for cleaning. The M&P Shield requires no tools. Still not bad compared to the pile of parts that comes off a 1911. I wanted the safety, so I opted for the LC9s instead of the LC9s Pro. The Tagua BH1 belt slide holsters are a nice fit for LC9s and M&P Shield. A Remora product is great for IWB CCW.

I researched them quite a bit. Probably went through 20-30 reviews.

No, it does not have a mag disconnect. You can fire without a mag in it.

I don’t like to have to mess with a safety for my carry guns. (My KelTec P11 doesn’t even have a safety. I carry my CZ-82 with the hammer down. It’s safe to do so with the CZ-82. I shoot the first shot DA and rest are SA.)

The PT111 has a trigger safety and a long trigger pull. Therefore, I think the manual safety is unnecessary. Like many people, I just won’t use it. I’ll carry and shoot it like a Glock.

I have carried my Mitchell .45 bull barrel/full throat support for 20 years. The takedown needs a bent paper-clip into a hole in the spring guide; but then breaks down into the barrel assembly, slide, and receiver for simple cleaning. This was made only briefly back when Mitchell tried to buy a niche in the Gov't market. Has other race gun features. Extremely accurate.

The LC9s fits exactly in the Don Hume H715 M NO. 40FS-1 IWB open top molded leather holster meant for the S&W Signa 9, easy re-holstering. However, the retention is friction, not positive; and the clip, though pretty secure, does not have a positive U-bend.

I carry the Springfield Armory XDS in .45 ACP in an Alien Gear IWB Cloak Tuck holster.

Love that combo.

I purchased a compensator for my Springfield 1911 that installs in place of the sloppy barrel bushing. I spent almost 30 hours with emery cloth to precisely fit it. It improved accuracy from 2.5 inch groups to .75 at 25 yards. Nice when the effort pays off like that. Thanks for the LC9s holster reference. Finding just the right fit can be a chore.

I spent almost 30 hours with emery cloth to precisely fit it. It improved accuracy from 2.5 inch groups to .75 at 25 yards.

I did the same for the barrel bushing on a standard-frame 1911 I just built earlier this year. But I used 200, then 300 grit wet-or-dry carbide paper. Using it wet removes particulates as they form, so the paper doesn't gum up. Just smoothed the barrel in the contact area, then fit the bushing I. D. to it using the paper on a hardwood dowel. Same with bushing to slide, smoothed the bushing O. D., then fit the slide muzzle I. D. to the bushing.

I got the Para Ordnance slide very cheaply from Sarco, when they got a lot of Para Ordnance surplus when it was sold to Remington, new guns rebadged, and the old parts bins cleared out.

So now my Colt beaver-tailed frame, Springfield-barrelled, match-triggered, fitted-bushing gun (with spring guide) calls itself "Para 1911 Wild Bunch" on the slide.

I could have fitted the slide to the frame, but had a real fine gunsmith do it, so when handed down to a grandchild, he will know that he has a very special gun, put together by his grandpa, and finally checked out by the best gunsmith (who really liked my trigger job).

I haven't had a chance to shoot it, but I think I'm going to be really pleased with its tight groups. I hope.

Your gun looks like it's going to have a very happy owner.

But if you don't like it, you can just send it on to me, eh? /smile

Sounds like a nice project with a nice outcome. I became pretty proficient in optimizing MKII Ruger pistols in the 1999-2001 time frame. All of them are worthy competitors for indoor pistol matches. This year has been focused on building AR rifles/pistols. I've had just one incident where an Anderson BCG came with a bolt that didn't pass the go/field/no-go head-space checks with a Bear Creek barrel. I ordered a Bear Creek bolt and it passed perfectly. Standardization and commodity parts are a good thing.
