No idea...all I know it’s their business section and they are liking this to the end of the world because of the loss of tourism.

The good people of turkey need to get rid of the Islamic nutjobs ruining the place.

Not likely to happen. The Turkish people just had an election and did NOT vote Erdogan out of office when they had the chance. This is the same Turkish populace that, at a recent soccer match between Greece & Turkey, during a called for “moment of silence” for the slaughtered French in the latest jihad incident instead booed and cried out Allahu Akbar. These “people” are despicable as are, IMHO, ALL Muslims.

The Russians have lusted after Turkey since before the Cold War started.

Turkey controls the only access from the Black Sea to the Mediterranean, along with the only land access from Europe to the Middle East.

I think Putin figures he can take it and Obama won't do anything but whine about it. He's probably right.

We are about to find out how "flexible" Obama can be.

Uh-oh. Also read today that the Turks are moving armor up to the Syrian border. Seen some pics of it in transport, but I don’t have a hard confirmation on it yet.

I hope NATO doesn’t get dragged into this.

I really could not care less if Russia hits Turkey hard — among other things I support a free Kurdistan —but because we made the stupid mistake of admitting Turkey to NATO any Russian retaliation will unfortunately entangle the US and Europe. At least we have a seasoned foreign policy professional at the helm in these perilous times. /sarc

NATO would never agree to support a Turkish war of aggression. Hussein might want it to, but a number of members would veto that foolish idea.

The Christian West has been fighting the Turks for about a thousand years ... why exactly did we think we could all be on the same side in Nato? A grave historical mistake IMO.

This Russia/Turkey situation gets more unsettling as it unfolds. Today has been quite the news day. Here’s hoping come Monday things have settled down.

“The good people of turkey need to get rid of the islamic nutjobs ruining the place.”

Most of the “Good People” of Turkey ARE Islamic Nutjobs...

The radicals have largely taken Turkey over in the last 20 years.

Most of the “good people” of Turkey are moongod-worshippers, and they approve of the islamonazi nutjobs running the place.

That’s how the islamonazi nutjob erdogan keeps getting elected.

Russia and Turkey have hated each other for centuries. The shoot-down was just as much about a violation of airspace as it was about the Russians kicking the Ottoman Empire and Islam the hell out of Europe.

The Turks are butthurt about their lost empire and the Russians worry that the Turks might someday go on the warpath again. The Russians hold that fear in common with every other country in the Eastern Mediterranean and around the Caspian and Black Seas.
