New Kasich Web Video: Donald Trump Is Pretty Much a Nazi, Right?
National Review ^ | Jim Geraghty

Posted on 11/25/2015 7:11:43 AM PST by RoosterRedux

Yeesh. John Kasich's campaign takes its biggest shot at Donald Trump, featuring a former U.S. prisoner of war, Ret. Col. Thomas Moe, adapting a famous quote about the Nazis, and applying it to Trump.

*snip*

See what you've done, Governor Kasich? Now you've got me, Trump hater extraordinaire, forced to defend Trump from charges of crypto-Nazism. We still don't know whether Donald Trump really wants Muslims to register with the government. He's never directly proposed it. He's given a half-distracted, loosely-worded affirmative answer to a reporter when it was first brought up by the reporter. Every time he's asked since, he gives an answer about Syrian refugees. Chances are this is a deliberate strategy. When the media writes denunciatory headlines about his comments, Trump wins over the support of the Americans who think a national registry of Muslims would be a good idea. But he also has plausible deniability, as he's never actually proposed it or explicitly said he supported it.

Mr. Moe himself engages in frustrating verbal slipperiness, claiming Trump says he's "going to round up all the Hispanic immigrants" when he's done nothing of the sort. He's proposed rounding up illegal immigrants of every race, creed and color. We deport illegal immigrants every year and deported roughly 400,000 in 2012--a policy that is Constitutional, legal, and morally justifiable. Trump is proposing an expansion of existing law--nothing Nazi-ish about that.

Essentially Kasich's lying about Trump with the intent of scaring voters who don't pay close attention to what's going on... Isn't that a democrat trick? A MSM ploy against Republicans? Kasich's chosen the people he wants to stand with - democrats and the MSM...

Kasich’s toast.

This is not just Kasich, who everyone knows has no chance. This is the Republican Party trying to take out their own front runner. Trump scares the daylights out of the established power structure of Washington. Their fear is well-founded.

Trump will get the Dan Quayle, Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich treatment. They will attempt to drive his negatives so high that only Trumps' hard core supporters will vote for him. This strategy pretty much always works with enough effort. And of course supporters of GOPe candidates (the entire field other than Trump) will cheer form the side lines hoping to inherit voters that will no longer vote Trump. However the not trump candidates that sat on the side lines cheering the smear campaign to trash Trump will never get the hard core supporters of Trump and consequently lose in the general election. Right now Trump has a firm 25% of GOP voters and likely a firm 25% of independents. That is a lot of voters to royally piss off.

But the Uniparty does not care they will be perfectly happy with anyone other then Trump. Hillary, Cruz, Rubio, Jeb are all acceptable to the globalist ruling class. Only Trump threatened their gravy train. Only Trump is not owned by billionaire donors, Chamber of Commence, Club for Growth, and the Wall St bankers. The rest not so much.

This coming from a guy with such high moral character that he got kicked out of Ronald Reagan’s campaign for selling drugs. He has looked in a couple of the debates like he was on an add drug, at best.

His existence seems to be enduring, his reputation as a monster is overdone.

He is just a slouchy, CREEPY ole geezer.... During the debates, if he had to stand there without a podium, he’d fall over. He is always leaning on something.

Kasich has committed the logical fallacy that political philosopher Leo Strauss dubbed Reductio ad Hitlerum or Argumentum ad Nazium.

I believe that Trump would be slowly treated dropping in the polls if the media simply treated him with their usual bias, not their new-and-improved, atomic, space-age bias.

All this does is cause his supporters to dig in more.

My first choice is Cruz, but I'll settle for Donald.

The Left believes in a large central government, with significant power.
The Left believes in limiting personal freedoms, for the “greater good”.

The Right believes in a small central government, with limited powers.
The Right believes personal freedoms are the “greater good”.

It’s quite obvious where the Nazis fall in all this! But wait, say the lefties. The Nazis must be conservatives because they had fancy military uniforms.

-— I’m thinking Pribus is feeding the Kasich frenzy. That way he doesn’t have to spend RNC funds . -—

Kasich’s super-pacs are sponsoring the first wave of anti-Trump ads, so that gives you a clue, as does Kasich’s hysteria during the debates so far.

Correct. The main difference between Naziism and Communism concerns how the economic aspects of totalitarian control is implemented. The Communists prefer that the State directly own assets and run the economy while the Nazis prefer that this be done indirectly via "private" companies that answer to the State. Arguably the Nazi approach is more efficient, but the end result is the same.

The real axis is not between "Left" and "Right", but between totalitarianism and liberty. The fact that the establishment studiously avoids pointing this out is further proof that they're all Statists at heart, and the only disagreement is about how to best implement State control over everything.

Kasich I’m sure knows he is there for one reason and it is not to win an election...He is letting himself be used as an attack dog by the establishment...If he ends up looking too crazy they haven’t lost anything, except Kasich...
