Putin: Downing Of Jet A 'Stab In The Back' International powers call for calm as the Russian leader warns Turkey downing one of its jets will have "serious consequences".

The shooting down of a Russian jet by Turkey is a "stab in the back" committed by "accomplices of terrorists", Vladimir Putin has said.

The Sukhoi Su-24 was warned 10 times before being downed near the Syrian border by two Turkish F16 jets for violating the country's airspace, according to the Turkish military.

A Turkish official said two Russian planes approached the Turkish border and were warned before one of them was shot down, adding their information shows Turkish airspace was repeatedly violated.

NATO said the incursion into Turkish airspace lasted 17 seconds, but Moscow claims its plane was over Syria when it was shot down.

I remember reading somewhere that Putin won't wade into the cesspool of the Middle East without suffering unintended consequences of his meddling to help save Syria.

Here is another example of Russian casualties.
Footage appears to show Syrian rebels shooting a grounded Russian helicopter, thought to have been sent as part of rescue efforts.

Invading the territory of other sovereign countries seems to be one of Vlad's favorite pastimes

17 seconds is probably less than the time of flight for the for a weapon in the rear quarter. Really poor form for the Turks.

It’s a political eternity until that most hope for of days comes to pass. Can’t think, imagine so far and deep into the future.

Trump will kick Putin into the next century.

When Putin was shooting anti-commies...Trump was negotiating deals.

Trump will eat Putin like sushi...with chop sticks and soy sauce.

Shooting the pilots as they were parachuting down is pretty low.

And illegal. Despite the movie “Midnight Express” if I was a Russian in that situation I would have turned into Turkey to eject.

I keep, saying that the resin that ISIS has been able to survive so long is because they have possession of the Iraqi oil fields and are selling the oil to whomever wants to buy it, France, Russia, even Assad. They are loving the low prices and Total Fina is/was heavily invested in those oil fields.

Russia is positioning themselves to control the oil in both Iran and The former Iraq.
